For over a hundred years golf has been played on the Goswick Links, which lie some 7 miles south of the old garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, on the east coast of north Northumberland.To the West the Cheviot Mountain Range overlooks the coastal strip with Goswick Links lying between the railway line and sands. The Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle lie to the South and looking North the low Lammermuir Hills lie just beyond the River Tweed and The Scottish Borders. The original nine holes were laid out in 1890 by James B raid and extended in 1894 to 18 holes. In 1964 the original nine holes were modified by Frank Pennick. Recently four new greens and four new tees have been added. The course now measures over 6600 yards and can be stretched to 6800 yards from back tees.
