'Very comfortable and reasonably priced. Close to the town centre. Staff very friendly and accommodating. As a smoker I particularly appreciated the balcony on which one could smoke, saving the trip down the stairs and out of the building if one wanted to engage in one's dubious habit. 'I was happy with just about all aspects of my short stay at Elva Lodge. Staff were polite and obliging; dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were good; the room was warm (in a very cold February), clean, comfortable and reasonably quiet. If I have a small quibble, it would be that when asked which morning paper I would like, I assumed this would be complimebtary. I was surprised, therefore, to find it on my bill at slightly above cost price. I think that needs to be made clear to guests. I'm unlikely to be staying in Maidenhead again, vut if I were I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.'
