Best meal ever
5 stars 5

'Corfe is such a scenic place and it was great staying in one of the oldest buildings, so thoughtfully converted to a comfortable hotel with great service. Dinner is a must -the dining hall has a lovely atmosphere and I had my best meal ever, being my favourite choices -mussels starter, and crab salad main -both beautifully served and top quality'

'We booked last minute and were delighted with our suite, including the four-poster bed, sitting area and jacuzzi. Dinner on Saturday night was excellent with a good variety of choice on the menu, all dishes cooked and presented well and a good wine list to accompany. The staff were very attentive and we felt well looked after throughout our stay. Premises and grounds were delightful and we will definitely return and recommend to friends.'

Excellent Hotel - one of the best I have stayed in.
5 stars 5

'What a wonderful surprise to find this hotel. My wife had booked this for my son and myself , so not sure what to expect. We arrived and was greeted with a very polite and helpful staff. The room overlooked the castle and the view was incredible. We stopped for two nights in total and on the second night had booked a evening meal. Although the service was slow at first, we were advised that the hotel was training new staff, the food was of good quality and delicious. The rooms were very clean and nothing was too much for the staff. Full marks to go to the staff for being so polite and helpful. We are hoping to return next year, but bring my wife with me to enjoy such a fabulous hotel.'

Beautiful hotel with great staff and an amazing dinner experience
5 stars 5

'Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. The staff in the Mortons House hotel were some of the best & most friendly staff we have ever stayed with. They made us feel relaxed and very welcome. They took time to talk to us about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant and we were so happy we did so. The service before our meal was wonderful. We had a drink in the beautiful drawing room where we read the menu & placed our food order. After our drinks we then moved into the dining room to eat. The food was excellent and so was the wine. Dinner in Mortons House is not to be missed.'

21st Century Service in a 16th Century Manor
5 stars 5

'The hotel is a 16th Century Elizabethan manor house which has been turned into a very fine and comfortable hotel. The greeting that awaits guests is both friendly and genuine. My room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed and décor appropriate for the property. The food was excellent and plentiful, a combination of fine cooking without the rabbit size, nouvelle cuisine portions of some places I have stayed. Bread is made on the premises and is perhaps the best bread I have ever tasted. No real ales are on tap – my favoured beverage as you may guess – but a very acceptable bottled selection is available. Breakfast is included with both the quality and choice up to a very high standard. A great place to stay for a sunny weekend venture.
5 stars 5

'We were made to feel welcome from the instant we walked into the reception, by a lovely lady called Janine. The hospitality of all the members of staff is amazing. Very friendly, and caring of our stay at the hotel. The en-suite upgraded room made us feel so cosy, and the bed was comfortable enough to help us fall asleep from a busy travelling day. The evening meal at the hotel restaurant is well worth booking. Delicious top quality food. The same with breakfast - this will set you up for your next daily adventure. The hotel is ideally position around the corner from our first days visit to Corfe Castle, and then for a short drive to the humble town of Swanage, for our second days visit. We even ventured further to Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door, with the good advice of the hotel staff.'

'Excellent couple of nights recently spent here with charming service, spotlessly clean rooms and good food! Would recommend to anyone who likes the feeling of being looked after by attentive staff in very pleasant old world surroundings (but with excellent wifi). Tip, get a room at the rear of the hotel as the noise from the road can be a little intrusive but frankly this is small fry compared to an overall very favourable stay - we would definitely go back!'

'We stayed one cold, dark, November night before a family party the following day in a local village - our stay at Moretons felt like the beginning of our celebrations. The staff helped us choose a fine bottle of bubbly, served coffee & gorgeous petit fours by the open fire and although our room didn\'t have a view of Corfe Castle, we were a stone\'s throw away for a post breakfast walk there in time to catch a rainbow. Thank you so much - and wish we could have stayed another night!'

Lovely bathroom with bath. But the food was fantastic. 'We enjoyed a lovely relaxing weekend at Morton\'s House Hotel. The welcome was very friendly with our room ready earlier than expected. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant Saturday evening although ate elsewhere on Sunday as we did not want the Valentines Gala meal which was being served at the hotel. The lounge with the open fire was a great place to sit and read the paper or play one of the board games available there. Overall a cosy, friendly family hotel I would certainly recommend.'

August Bank Holiday stay
4 stars 4

'We had a very pleasent stay at the Mortons House Hotel. The Hotel is well maintained and the staff are very professional. We found it a relaxing place to stay although our street facing room did suffer from some traffic noise in the mornings. I accept this is beyond the Hotel\'s control but it was noticeable. Food was good with a very good breakfast service and we had dinner in the restaurant one evening which was of a good standard. The Hotel decor may seem dated for some tastes but we thought it was in keeping with the location and tradition of the Hotel. The rooms and hotel were kept clean and tidy. It is well located for the Village and for exploring the local area. There is a large car park but it does get busy but we found a space to park each time. We would recommend the Hotel if you are looking for a traditional style hotel with good staff and service. The traffic apart the Hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and is well run. Corfe Castle is a lovely place to stay and the Hotel suits its location well. We would stay there again.'

'As a regular visitor I see the Hotel in many different seasons and it always welcoming. Staff friendly, willing to engage in conversation and always helpful, food excellent and rooms very comfortable with that touch of character that sets them out from the \"chains\". This summer they had a power cut impacting the kitchen and part of the dining room one evening, we diners didn\'t notice anything to suggest there was any challenging circumstances. 'A small hotel with real character set in the charming village of Corfe Castle. With castle views and adjacent to the steam railway station on the line to Swanage, this hotel provides an excellent base location from which to explore the South Dorset Coast. Very Nice
4 stars 4

'Stayed for 3 nights with my grown up son as we were visiting relatives in the village. I have stayed at Mortons House Hotel before but this time I enjoyed it more. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are lovely and clean and well maintained. My son's room was beautiful and had a lovely view of Corfe Castle - perfectly framed by his window. My room was smaller but had everything you needed. The only downside of my room (4) is a very squeaky floor board right outside the door - but the hotel is in a very old house so it has to be expected. It is a little bit pricey but we were staying on the Bank Holiday weekend. Lovely terrace outside and you can listen to the steam train from the Swanage railway - the station is at the bottom of the garden and well worth a trip. Be warned if you go for a walk in the village as the hotel drive goes directly onto the road which can become very busy. It is a perfect setting for Corfe Castle and a very handsome hotel. I have never eaten dinner there due to visiting relatives but everyone says the food is lovely. A very nice breakfast is served in the dining room and has a good selection. It was the first time my on had stayed there and he was very impressed. During the summer holidays the village gets extremely crowded and the roads busy but if you can plan your visit around school holidays you will not be disappointed. There is plenty of free guest parking at the hotel and we had a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend it.'

Bank holiday weekend at corfe castle
5 stars 5

'Mortons hotel is a lovely traditional hotel set in the historic village of corfe castle. The decoration throughout is of a high authentic quality, even down to the creeking floor boards, a reminder of the building's long history (although a hotel for less than 30years). The hotel scores highly in the quality of the food and drink and in the ambience of the panelled lounge area. There is little to fault the hotel or the services available but sadly I have to report that the weekend we were staying, the internet was not available until the morning we were checking out!! This was only a minor irritant for us, but others with children may not be quite so forgiving. An excellent hotel, set in a beautiful area, steeped in over a millennia of history, an great way to spend a bank holiday weekend. Just need to sort out the wi-fi!'

Lovely hotel: very nice staff
5 stars 5

'We had a very relaxing short break with excellent food and service delivered with a friendly, polite smile even though the weather was very hot and the hotel was full to capacity. The Terrace was the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening with excellent food and good wine. The Lounge by contrast was always cool and provided a comfortable and welcoming haven to read the papers. If I had to take a more critical view: our room at the rear was just above the kitchen which was a little noisy at times - although I accept there is no quiet way to clean and stack crockery. And the plants laid out on the Terrace to such good effect were definitely suffering from the heat and could have done with some dead-heading and watering. I look forward to visiting again later in the year and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.'

Excellent
5 stars 5

'The hotel, apart from being situated in the delightful village of Corfe Castle, had a charm and presence of its own. The staff were extremely engaging and helpful, the food was excellently prepared and served, the room reasonably spacious and comfortable, and a peaceful haven from the sometimes rather crowded centre of Corfe itself. If you enjoy walking as we do, the Purbeck way which runs through Corfe is easily accessible, as is the dramatic Jurassic coastline. We would not hesitate to recommend Mortons House hotel to our friends.'

Charming Hotel
5 stars 5

'My wife and I stayed overnight at Morton House recently. The old building is very attractive with it's leaded windows and stonework. The room we had was very pleasant, lovely and quiet and from the bathroom a superb view of the Castle. The evening meal was very good indeed presented perfectly by the professional manner of the staff. It is the staff which make the hotel stand out. They were all extremely pleasant, very friendly and helpful. My wife forgot to pack her hair conditioner and as it was after 6 pm on Sunday when we arrived, there wasn't anywhere open to buy any. The lady on reception said she would happily bring her some from her home the following morning. And she did, now it's not very often you meet that kind of helpfulness these days! I would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Corfe without hesitation.'

Morton's House Hotel
4 stars 4

'Pleasant ambience and nicely presented food,a comfortable room with not too many cushions which was releif from teh current trend. There was a great view of the castle from the loo. The wiFi was limited to the sitting room [and it rained]! Scrambled eggs a bit overcooked and no trouser press but overall, pretty good and an excellent centre for visiting the Purbeck area.'

July Weekend Break
4 stars 4

'We enjoyed a great weekend break, as a last minute treat, staying Saturday and Sunday nights. Our room, on the first floor at the front of the hotel was lovely. Dinner in the restaurant on Saturday night was first class, followed by a slightly slow but leisurely breakfast on Sunday morning. We returned from a stunning walk along the Purbeck Way to champagne afternoon tea on the terrace, and dinner in the bar/ lounge on Sunday evening. Continental breakfast was easily organised for Monday morning to enable a swift departure . . and return to the Monday morning rat race.'

Perfect stay
5 stars 5

'A very lucky upgrade to the loft room gave us lovely views and very roomy accommodation. The staff are so friendly and polite and the food excellent if a tad expensive. Situated very close to the centre of the village, a beautiful old house with lots of character, we will definitely visit again.'

Best in the area

'Personal and friendly attention, and excellent food - in a hotel full of character and charm, with easy parking in an ideal location. Our room overlooked both the castle and the station and we saw a hare in the garden. We will return regularly.'

Excellent!
5 stars 5

'A truly pleasurable stay. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are comfortable, the log fire in the lounge a delight, the food excellent - and a view of Corfe Castle from the bathroom window. One of the few places where I do not mind travelling alone.'

Two Night Stay
4 stars 4

'An impressive building, well-preserved to enhance 'first impressions'. Room 17 was very clean and tidy, but the real delight was the quality of the evening meal. The AA rosettes are very well deserved, but there should be more rosettes for the staff, who were very friendly and efficient. One minor criticism ? Old folks do like to find a higher seat, and there were none in the main lounge apart from the window-ledge. The test question is - would we go there again ? The answer is - Yes please !'

'Excellent service, excellent food and a superb location. It was particularly good to have the Loft Suite. The only slight disadvantage was that the main bed wasn't the most comfortable. But we wii definitely come back. Thank you to all your excellent staff.'

Wonderful, relaxing stay...
4 stars 4

'We had a wonderful time at Mortons House Hotel. We particularly enjoyed the food and the service, which was friendly. Having eaten at two Michelin starred restaurants the week previous, we felt that the food at Mortons House was actually equal to and better than we had eaten at the Michelin restaurants. Both the dinner and the breakfast were wonderful. I think that staff make or break a hotel and we found that most of the staff were upbeat, friendly and 'can do' people who appeared to love their occupations. Our room was comfortable and had a lovely outlook. We enjoyed the historic aspect of staying at Mortons House which is an Elizabethean period building.'

'We had eaten in the restaurant on a few occasions but this was the first time we had stayed - for 3 nights. The room was comfortable and of good size. The food was excellent but, above all, the service was superb. All staff were friendly and efficient and really made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble. We'll be back'
