'We have just come back from a nights stay and just have to say a Big Thank you to all the staff at The Melbury. We stayed in the Garden Lodge (our own little private snug) We had a slight problem with the Spa and did not think we would be able to use it, however we where given champagne, chocolates and balloons as a sorry then top it all Graham got the spa working for us so it was smiley faces all round. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast all served by the a lovely lady who found nothing too much trouble. We will be coming back very soon - Thank you x'

'I booked the Melbury for my fist stay in Exeter to visit our daughter who is in her first year at Uni. A lovely first visit, great room with WONDERFUL mattress and very peaceful - I slept like a log. Thank you everyone for helping to make my first trip so enjoyable. Graham, I am so VERY jealous of your next trip - to Thailand...have a wonderful time. I will be back! Many thanks, Glynis Blake'

'Our stay at Melbury Guest House was wonderful, the hot tub all to ourselves in our secluded area was such a luxurious treat! Breakfast was also fantastic, loads of choice and cooked to order. Thank you Melbury, we will definitely visit again.'

Opulent Oasis
5 stars 5

'We arrived 2 hours late and in the dark to a warm, inviting welcome from our host Graham. The non fussy check-in added to the charmingly relaxed atmosphere. The 'Garden Room' is in the far corner of a very unexpected bijou courtyard garden filled with a profusion of bamboo. The room was larger than expected, warm, clean and tastefully decorated. The hot tub is perfectly private and a beautiful bonus. We are looking forward to our next visit.'

Value for money
4 stars 4

'Slightly bizarre meet and greet as not once through the whole stay did anyone ask or speak my name. However, very handy for the city centre and good value for money. Clean room with tea/coffee and bottled water (plus water cooler in hall). Excellent breakfast with wide range of choice. Only negative was the fact that it was a single bed with a very soft matress and a 5 out of 5 would have been scored with a better bed - there is space for a double? just a thought.'

FAB
4 stars 4

'We have just enjoyed a great overnight stay in the garden suite, complete with hot tub. The room was comfortable and well equipped, although it could have done with being vacuumed before we arrived (there were a number of long, dark hairs on the floor and sofa). The location of this guest house is perfect to walk into town and parking is very reasonable for a city centre location. There was a fantastic choice of options for breakfast, which was delicious, hot and promptly served. We really liked having a choice of arrival times and breakfast times, and will definitely stay here again.'

'We had an excellent stay at Melbury Guest House on our wedding night. Although we weren't there for very long the staff were very accommodating and left us a key as we arrived late after our wedding reception. The room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was well received after our late night and check out simple as we had paid in advance. Thanks to you all for making our wedding night special!'

'Good things: accommodating and flexible staff, beautiful house, sumptuous and classy. Room very comfortable, slept well, well stocked. Breakfast delicious. Less good: room labelled 'Suite' when it was not, shower drained poorly, not enough pillows and a bit hard.'

Excellent central location
4 stars 4

'Ideal choice for me due to central location and close to coach station. Loved the furnishings and Victorian atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent (both choice and quality) and I appreciated the hospitality tray. Loved the view out on to the delightful courtyard garden while having breakfast. My single room was comfortably furnished but rather small and I missed not having toilet as part of ensuite shower room. The staff were welcoming and helpful and I really enjoyed my stay. Will recommend your guesthouse to others.'

Ideal location
3 stars 3

'The hotel is in a great location to walk into Exeter city centre. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. We stayed in the Garden Lodge and the hit tub was fantastic. However, on the downside the hot tub bubbles all night and as the bed is very close by and separated only by single glazing I was unable to sleep due to the noise and also the bed was extremely squeaky. We has a pleasant stay but would not call it 'luxury executive". All in all we do not regret booking with the Melbury however if I were to stay again I would invest in some earplugs for the night.'

Garden Lodge
4 stars 4

'Been planning on staying here for about a year now and finally did so last weekend. The Garden Lodge was perfect for us. The hot tub made the stay and the breakfast and friendliness of the owners was really good. Although not stated, I was expecting a king size bed... Would stay here again in a flash, perfect for a shopping trip to Exeter as it's only about 5 minutes walk to the City Centre.'
