'The quality of the accomodation is matched by the quality of the welcome! And then there is the breakfast - wow! We were so impressed with our room and the house in general, to have such a lovely sitting room to use was a real bonus and you made us feel part of the family, in fact I think Basil thought we were but he probably treats everyone that way. We will see you again, of that I'm sure.'

'We had planned an Easter visit to my daughter who lives in the Shawbirch area of Telford. They do not have the luxury of guest accomodation (unless it's the lounge floor!) so we usually stay at a very convenient Travelodge about a mile away. It seems quite a popular stopover and there are rarely any special discounts so typically it's £52 to £60 per night for their adequate but basic facilities. Two weeks before Easter I tried to book a room listed at £59.99. When I got through to the point of paying in advance I was going to be charged £99.99!!!!! Insane. When my daughter moved to Telford 8 years ago, I remembered staying at a rather "quaint" B&B called Church Farm Guest House. I found their website and realised that, under new owners, a lot had changed. There were still vacancies and I could see pictures of the rooms with descriptions of the facilities. It looked great value for £70 including 2 breakfasts. Booked. Our stay came and went. What can I say. A friendly greeting on arrival (including one from Basil the adorable family pet dog). A great room with views over the large back garden , the local church and across counrtyside to the horizon. Crisp clean white bedding, a range of do-it-yourself beverages and snacks, TV, alarm clock and a great little en-suite sporting armfuls of pristine white towels and a very comfortable queen size bed. A significant upgrade from the spartan facilities at Travelodge. After a very good night's sleep, we arrived down for breakfast to find a menu worthy of any good hotel. Fresh duck or chicken eggs with the full English or cerials or pancakes or veggi options or.... or.... or ...the list seemed endless. With such great local facilities (only 2 miles away from my daughter) why should I ever think about Travelodge again? Great hosts, great value, great stay.Top marks.'

'We had come to visit our daughter who is studying at Harper Adams University and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We also came with our dog who was made very welcome. A wonderful breakfast was provided which would keep most people going for the whole day! We will without doubt be visiting again. Thank you.'

'We had a long weekend staying at Church Farm for 3 nts and you could not find a better place to stay. The Hosts, Mel and Martin are really friendly and welcoming. The house has its own history and the rooms are very well decorated and have a great seletion of in-room drinks and toiletries. Martin is a superb chef and we thoroughly enjoyed a 4 star, 4 course, meal on the Friday night in Basil's restaurant at Church Farm. Basil by the way is a gorgeously affectionate black and white staffie..I could happily have taken him home with me..along with Martin's recipe book! Thank you Mel and Martin'

'Our reason for booking our stay at Church Farm was due to the very good review in "Woman and Home". We hadn't checked out Trip Advisor beforehand but have now! Had we done more research we may well have realised who Basil was! Mel and Martin have a thriving Guest House business where nothing is too much trouble. We spent two very comfortable nights there and look forward to returning in the spring. On arrival we were met at our car by Basil, who then helped us to our room. Martin provided tea and cake in the lounge and we were honoured to be joined on the settee by Basil, who then proceeded to show us around the village! He makes you feel quite special till you read all the other reviews and realise your not actually his favourite, he's just great at his job. For those who don't know about Basil - he's the pet dog! Mel's ducks and bantams help provide a fantastic breakfast and for dinner we would thoroughly recommend guests join Martin and his team at the Plough. The quality and value of his menu are second to none. This wonderful traditional old farm house really is a home from home, thank you Mel, Martin and Basil. Clive and Val Fuller'

'Well where to start - Such a warm welcome, greeted with fresh coffee and cake and a lovely homely atmosphere. We were made to feel so welcome by the whole family including Basil who sang to us both mornings at breakfast...which the children found hilarious. Very clean, spacious rooms with beautiful furniture - plenty of room for the 4 of us. Lots of storage space in the rooms. Beautiful view from the bedroom (3). Could go on forever but just to say 5* for what I can only call a wonderful weekend. Would definately recommend to family and friends and will hopefully return one day for another fabulous breakfast. Thank you so much for welcoming us into your home xx'

'We have had a really comfortable relaxing stay at Church Farm. Welcoming, clean & unfussy, very dog friendly. The food was excellent, quality teas & coffee in the bedrooms, with fresh milk provided. We felt like we hadn't left home. The children gave me a birthday card, I was really touched. We needed to have breakfast earlier the first two mornings, than they usually serve & that was accommodated easily. Basil the bull terrier is a real soft sweetie & played with our dog & another guests dog with absolutely no problems. There is a big garden the dogs can roam in. Plenty of off street parking. We have already booked for next year. Well done Mel & Martin for such great hospitality.'

'Stayed for 2 nights in the room with private bathroom. Delightful room with extra treat of watching the chickens and ducks in the garden. Bed was really comfy, everything beautifully clean and walking few steps to bathroom no trouble at all. Even bathrobes provided so what more could you ask for. Breakfast was good - would recommend yoghurt berry pots! Lovely house, Mel was friendly and helpful and Basil the dog an entertaining extra!'

'Excellent accommodation - comfortable bed, good night's sleep and a shower that delivers! If I say the breakfast was the best part it might be read the wrong way - but the quality of the bacon, eggs and sausages was first class - and all cooked to perfection. Given the ease of access via the M54, it is worth taking a detour of many miles to stay here.'

'Lovely welcoming stay. Pleasant and beautiful location. Very friendly and really loved Megan and Rosie being around seeing as I had two children around the same age group. We all fell in love with Basil, sad he wouldn't fit in the suitcase and didn't want to leave this beautiful place. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast. Thank you Mel, Martin, Megan and Rosie Highly recommended!'

'Gastvrouw erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam, je kon met haar overleggen. De kamers gezellig en met smaak ingericht.net als de rest van de farm. Zou dit adres zeker aanraden bij vrienden. Slechts 1 nacht geweest, dus de omgeving kunnen we niet over oordelen.'

'Very enjoyable stay with a large comfortable room & nice extras such as bath robes, bottled water & biscuits in the room. Very good breakfasts with an unusual choice of food in addition to the usual "English" breakfast such as pancakes with berries, smoked salmon, & eggs Benedict. We were made most welcome & offered coffee & tea on our arrival in the comfortable guest lounge. The chickens & ducks in the garden ensured fresh eggs & Basil the dog was very friendly. We will stay again next year.'

'Great place to stay, we were merely en route home after a holiday in Wales therefore only stayed one night. Well worth a longer stay, warm welcome. Evening meal, although rather later than we would have liked, was one of the best I've eaten anywhere.'

'We have just stayed 3 nights at Church Farm and as soon as we walked through the door Mel, Martin, their girls and of course Basil the dog were so warm and friendly. Straight away we were made to feel so welcome and part of the family, which is just what you need when staying away with young children, our two are 2 ½ yrs and 1 yr and nothing was too much trouble. Mel did all she could to help and totally understood what it’s like staying away with young children. Our family room was a great size, clean and very comfy. Free wifi to keep the hubby happy and DVD to keep the children happy. We had dinner on our first night and all 4 courses were just fantastic and breakfast was fab too, my 2 ½ year old particularly loved his breakfast sausage. The house is in a beautiful position and great location for exploring the surrounding area. Once home my 2 ½ year old asked to go back to the farm house, that decision had already been made, we will definitely be going back for another stay. Thank you Mel and family for making our stay so great.'

'Just spent a couple of nights at the wonderful Church Farm, very nice room, clean spacious and everything we needed. Met the lovely Basil which we had heard all about on previous reviews and he certainly lived up to expectations. Our son Oliver wanted to take him home! Breakfast choice is best we have seen and was all deicious. We felt very at home and used the lovely lounge in the evenings to relax. Mel and Martin made us feel realy welcome and enjoyed meeting their two lovely daughters. Would definitely recommend.'
