An absolute pleasure!
5 stars 5

'From the moment we walked through the doors of this delightful hotel we knew we had made the right choice and that we would probably never choose to stay anywhere else in Plymouth. Fantastic, extremely welcoming staff, delicious food (breakfast and evening meal), fabulous suite (without the usual expense of a suite), simple yet stylish furnishings and very clean and to top it all off a stone's throw from the Hoe! Thank you, we will return. The Reeves Family'

My Third Visit.....
5 stars 5

'As it says this was my third visit to The Grosvenor in order that I might visit our Grandson. Previously I have travelled alone, but this time my husband came with me. I have now experienced both single and double accommodation. On this occasion we had a double room with bath. This hotel provides a high level of friendly service coupled with extremely clean rooms. The double room we had was of comfortable size with a BATHROOM as opposed to a SHOWER ROOM en suite. A new addition to the service is the provision of light evening meals served between 5:30 and 9:00 in the bar / lounge area. So convenient to me when travelling alone. I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially as my son (a world traveller, and his wife who arranges corporate hospitality) describes the freshly cooked breakfasts as fantastic......Jane Barnes. ps Please can the hotel amend my surname as above.'

Business stay
4 stars 4

'I stayed in a bay-windowed double room which was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and had lovely linens. The room had everything I needed - tea/coffee, biscuits, free WiFi, TV, bathroom etc. As with any Victorian house/hotel that has been upgraded to match 21st century guests' expectations, the insertion of en suite bathrooms has reduced the size and balance of the rooms but my room was perfectly spatious. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculately clean. It was great to get a freshly cooked breakfast - in fact, I was woken by the scent of bacon wafting up the stairs! The location of the hotel is perfect - so close to the sea; I sat in my bay window and watched the ships leaving port. It's a very quiet part of Plymouth - no vehicular or pub traffic - which made a lovely change. Overall, a great stay and the quality of the decor, carpet and linens and the perfect cleanliness is of particular note.'

'I have booked into The Grosvenor, Plymouth twice now and both times I've had had really pleasant stay. The rooms are well furnished with tasteful decor and with good facilities. All the staff are friendly and chatty without being intrusive and have a helpful manner. The breakfast is comprehensive, with a selection of several cereals, yogurt, breads, fruit juices, tea/coffee, jams, and also an English breakfast. The location is also good, sited in a Georgian terrace, two minutes walk from the Promenade at Plymouth Hoe.'

'Superior room'
4 stars 4

'This was our third stay at the Grosvenor, our first in a superior room, and as before the room was clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was superb. We did feel, however, a little let down by the 'superiors' bathroom as the toilet was so close to the basin it was uncomfortable to sit on.We will be back, hopefully in December, but will stick to a standard double en suite which has always fulfilled its promise.'

4 stars 4

'We stayed at the Grosvenor for one night. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly throughout our stay and our room was clean and had everything we needed. The hotel was in a good location and the breakfast was delicious! Our room was at the top of the building, so there were a fair few steps to climb, but this didn't bother us as it felt quite private. Lovely hotel for what we needed.'

'I did enjoy my stay. Unfortunately I was not very well as I was just getting over a bad virus infection. The bed was most comfortable, one of the best I have slept in actually. I found the lighting poor as the old electric bulbs are still in use,not very good for applying make-up, low energy bulbs give off a much better light and save poswer at the same time. I did find that the chamber maid took a shortcuts, i.e. not bothering to straighten the bottom sheet before throwing the duvet over so it made me wonder what else she was slip shod with, maybe, in the en-suite where hygeine is of the utmost importance! I was also put out with the toast. It was mostly still white bread when it was toasted. As I don't eat a cooked breakfast i did need some toast after my cereal. D Jones'

4-night break in Plymouth

'My wife and I are both in our 80s and decided to take a short holiday in Plymouth where we enjoyed many happy days when we still had our car. I found the Grosvenor on the internet and saw that all the reports were very positive. We were not disappointed with our stay, from the freshly cooked to order breakfast to the comfortable beds and staff who hastened to assist us whenever possible. The only problem we found was that it was extremely difficult to regulate the temperature of the shower. A very small problem because we had baths instead.'
