'Needing to stay overnight in Marsden for a wedding at Hey Green, we were very pleased with the accomodation offered by the Olive Branch. Short taxi ride to and from Hey Green. Sadly, missed the chance to sample the food at the Olive Branch, but continental style breakfast included was very good. Hope to return under less pressure and sample the evening food next time.'

Christmas Day Stay

'Great food, comfortable room. One request - turn off / reduce the heating! It was very warm in our room (Topiary) even with our window open. In Holly's bedroom (Duck) they could not open a window so they were uncomfortable warm.'

Perfection
5 stars 5

'Olive Branch is very special. On a bitter cold winter evening to walk into the reception cum bar one is immediately transformed into a state of wonder and further expectation.Warmth, furnishings and general layout of the downstairs area and together with welcome from the Proprietor and later from the two smiling girls behind the bar who coupled the jobs of tending the bar, Taking dinner order and waiting on at tables expertly.Dinner was as good if not better than any meal I have had in any Hotel/Restaurent in over 30 years of living in hotels during my employment years. We stayed at the Olive Branch on the special deal they have of £140 per couple. A La Carte dinner bed and breakfast, continental or full English served in the bedroom or restaurent. Our visit was a special occasion being Birthdays(2) and Xmas presents (2)for our friends starting with bottle of White Wine in the bedroom on arrival.Bedrooms were large, warm well appointed and had everything requiered for our comfort. Outside in the corridor were tea/coffee, cups plus other items plus a large Fridge which had in it Beers,Lager, soft drinks bottled water etc and titled "Honesty Bar" list of drinks and priced, leave money in bedroom on departure or pay at the bar.The Olive Branch is not a place just for a good meal,to see it at its best is to visit overnight and be pampered as our party was.Prices generally were typical of a good class Restaurent.Extensive wine list good real ales and very good selection of Whiskies some of which I had not seen since my days working in Scotland.I look forward to visiting on a summer day when it will be possible to walk on the canal bank which lies 400 yds or so behind the Olive Branch. Next time it will be for two nights. This Inn is "The" place for that special occasion and we shall look forward to this. Our ages by the way are 65 to 81 Brian M'

Lovely room
4 stars 4

'Shame about the breakfast. We didn't opt for the £14.50 per head cooked breakfast which seemed a bit steep on top of £90 for the room. There was a breakfast bar outside the room with cereals, tea/coffee but the juice in the fridge was actually fermenting. Apart from that nice to have breakfast in bed and the room was really lovely: spacious, comfortable and with a big bathroom.'

50th Birthday
5 stars 5

'This is the third stay at the Olive Branch and I was not disappointed at all... we had been celebrating my partner's 50th Birthday (we wanted to get away for a quiet evening just the two of us)From checking in to our room and the evening meal & breakfast everything was excellent food to a very high standard and the service was superb !!! The drinks and honesty bar is a lovely touch … However we did have the fire alarm going off at 12.45am a guest had tumbled and caught the alarm button by mistake .. after giving Paul a call on his mobile he arrived within 5 minutes ... I would recommend the food the overnight stay ... all in all we had a lovely stay and will be back very soon. A big thank you to Paul and all the staff for making us feel very special'

A really surprising find!
5 stars 5

'We were touring Yorkshire - two couples - and were recommended by a relative to the Olive Branch. We'd visited and stayed there before but WOW what an improvement. And it was by no means shabby before. The two rooms we had were absolutely excellent (though being at the front a tad noisy from passing traffic). And the dinner we had was first class. Just try the belly pork or the crispy duck, or the lamb shank. First class cooking from the ladies in the kitchen. We ALL started with seared scallops and chorizo. And the puds - fabulous sorbets and ice creams in home made brandy snaps. Really helpful, attentive staff. We on the dinner, bed and breakfast deal which we thought was very good value. We'd bsolutely recommend the Olive Branch to anyone.'

Excellent Break.
5 stars 5

'We were very impressed on arrival at not only the initial appearance of the olive branch but the greeting from the staff . After being shown to our lovely room we took advantage of the tea and coffee from the hospitality tray outside our room. I thought the cd player and selection of cd's were a great idea. We then went down into the bar for a drink before our meal. All the staff who delt with us during our meal were helpful , friendly and proffessional. It's a beautiful cosey place with a warm atmosphere. The food I'd out of this world and the breakfast is great too. With the excellent customer service , lovely room and fab food. We will defiantly be back. The added bonus for us was the great walks along the nearby canal and the moors. We had a fantastic weekend.'

Great Experience
5 stars 5

'It was well worth travelling over 100 miles to stay at the Olive Branch. We choose it at random, from the Good Food Guide, and were not disappointed. The room was comfortable and well supplied with tea, coffee, etc. The food was fantastic, with a great choice for each course. I am lactose intolerant but this didn't seem to matter as any dish I wanted was provided to suit my needs. I would recommend this Restaurant to anyone and be certain that they would not let me down! Thanks for a great experience.'

More bang for the buck than most dining pubs with rooms and the best I have visited in the area
5 stars 5

'This a real find; reasonably close to the M62 and neatly bisecting Leeds and the culinary wasteland that is Manchester. Avoids needing to trek further north to the many splendid place in North Yorkshire for a good pub/restaurant with rooms. If you can get it, the room and fixed-price menu deal is bordering on criminal in the customers favour: checked into a spacious room with good bathroom before a pint of great local beer then a generous silky slab of chicken liver terrine. Small but juicy, rib-eye steak to follow was served nicely on a small chopping board with a huge mushroom, a sprig of oven-roasted tomatoes and a basket on sinful, tobacco fries. The accompanying vegetable were fine but superflous in my opinion and not quite as modish as the rest of the meal. An acid test of a kitchen, creme brulee, to round things off was authentic but pleasantly unctious with a nice thick caramelly topping. Reading this back, it sounds like unadventurous comfort food which is anything but the case. This is a skilful kitchen working with good ingredients producing fairly adventurous comfort food at a very reasonable price in comfortable surroundings with excellent service and quality wine choices by the glass, again at very fair prices. Sorry to bang on about the fair prices but it is so rare to find anywhere of this calibre that is affordable for private or small business accounts. On this showing, I'll venture into the more expensive ala carte menu next time I visit. All in all, more bang for the buck than most dining pubs with rooms and the best I have visited in the area.'

Weekend away
4 stars 4

'Our room was very pleasant and well appointed. The help yourself breakfast was a good idea, but with it being a Bank Holiday Weekend, we ended up with only one lot of bread for both mornings and no butter at all. The room was a little cold, it would have been good to be able to turn the heating on. Other than the comments it was a pleasent stay thank you.'
