'This is our second stay here and we have enjoyed it the second time around just as much as the first. The bedrooms are of a very good standard and are perfectly clean. The breakfasts are well cooked and well presented. The weather has not been great on either of our visits but we envisage sitting out in the garden on a balmy evening on a future visit'

'We found our stay excellent. On arrival there was perhaps a slight delay in sorting us with rooms, when we were ready to shgower, and relax a while before eating, following a long day's cycling. Staff were very friendly, rooms clean and well-appointed, beer good, food good and good value. Breakfast great, and we were well looked after; as were our bicycles.'

'Absolutely fabulous stay thanks to Debra, Philip , Laura and the rest of the family. The pub was extremely clean, and rooms recently refurbished with more than the usual 4/5 star toiletries and equipment (daily bars of chocolate, hot chocolate and spring water, iPod and flat screen tv etc) Cooked breakfast to order and lovely, reasonably priced evening meals are also available. The hotel was placed off the beaten track and in the middle of glorious countryside . Well worth a visit as lots to see in the immediate area. We will undoubtedly make a return visit. A big thank you to the team for making us feel so welcome.... Hope to see you again soon.'

'I had to go up to Shropshire on business and had originally looked at hotels in Ludlow but left it a bit late and found most were full so looked on the internet for hotels around Ludlow. The web page of The Baron at Bucknell looked interesting so I booked my stay there. I am delighted that I did, it is a first class hotel that would hold it's own with any hotel worldwide. The quality of the rooms, the cleanliness of the entire hotel, the welcome of the owners, the supurb service of the staff and the delicious food are all exceptional. Every last little detail to make staying there as comfortable as possible was included. Not to mention the stunning views. I would thoroughly reccommend anyone visiting that area to book their stay at the Baron.'

'I booked our weekend break as a surprise 'stocking filler' for my partner for christmas, we'd always wanted to visit Ludlow and so on looking for somewhere to stay I came across the 'Barons' website, liked what I saw and booked it! The website does not do this 'gem' of a find justice... there is nothing negative I can say about this place, the building, the bedrooms (luxury isnt in it!) the food and the welcome was more than we expected. The view from the conservatory whilst eating breakfast is wonderful, we watched rabbits, saw kestrels and hawks whilst enjoying a well cooked, lovely presented full english breakfast. It is a family run place, and it shows, the attention to detail and the effort made for us to enjoy our stay, (right down to their lovely daughter waiting on our table on Sunday morning)was delightful. This place is a find, and I'll defy anyone not to enjoy a weekend here. Well done 'The Baron' we will be seeing you again soon!'

'The Baron has to be one of the cleanest establishments we've ever stayed at. The furnishings and finish of the refurbished work - sheds are a credit to the Baron's owners who are rightly proud of their home from home establishment. Little touches (dare I say, obviously female?) brilliant bathroom lighting, shelving in just the right place, discreet night light for the loo etc. toiletries were brilliant quality with plenty of huge fluffy towels available. Big bonus, lovely chocolates and bottled water provided as a matter of course made us feel really welcome. The offer of fresh milk for our teas upon arrival was an extra nice touch. Easily controllable heating, windows opening up onto the countryside for clean fresh air - a bonus these days with stuffy air conditioned hotels in abundance. Tons of leaflets, maps and things to do lists made room 2 a delight to stay in. Wish we could have stayed longer. The bar areas are superbly clean and well designed so that you can eat either in privacy or in the company of the very friendly locals and owners. The food is spot on with a quirky home made pizza menu also available. We enjoyed both menus which were very good value mmmmmm. Breakfast, as you'd expect was efficient and tasty with full use made of the locally produced sausages, bacon etc. I had no problem at all finding something suitable for me, a fussy veggie. Location? Spot on again, just a short drive to Ludlow etc., via beautiful countryside and, another bonus, quiet roads. What more could you wish for? A longer stay next time of course!'

'A one night stay in this beautiful corner of England was too short but really memorable. This family-run establishment is friendly and welcoming and our room was a real taste of luxury, beautifully appointed and furnished and spotlessly clean. The food is high quality and very well-presented, with the sirloin steak in particular being as close to perfection in taste and texture as any (of many elsewhere) previously eaten. Only slight downside was breakfast finishing at 9am and checkout by 10.30am, not ideal for those who prefer not to be early risers when away from home. Overall, highly recommended.'

'We have just returned from spending the bank holiday weekend at the Baron. This is a lovely Inn with very welcoming owners and staff. Our room was very modern, clean and probably had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! The duvet and pillows were of extremely good quality and you can tell the owners spared no expense when decorating and furnishing the rooms. Also, it was a nice touch to have the little 'extras' that a lot of people do not provide, such as chocolate and biscuits next to the tea tray, an iron and small ironing board, a hairdryer and beautiful toiletries in the en suite. The room really was luxurious and very, very clean. The In itself is in a pretty little village, had a lovely beer garden with amazing views. A nice, friendly bar area and cosy restaurant , the menu was good and the food lovely. I wouldnt hesitate to reccommend the Baron to anyone....you wont be disappointed!'

'Just got back from a weekend stay at this pub. We and our friends thought it was a real find. Excellent food and beers with a good wine selection. Really high standard, comfortable rooms, with lovely views over the countryside and excellent breakfast, all at a very reasonable price. Well situated at the foot of Bucknell Hill with a good sized garden. Lovely walking country, with a book of walks available from the pub. The friendly, attentive service helped to make it a great weekend. We will certainly be back!'
