Staff ordered us a taxi and were informative about the area - the hotel is in a pleasant leafy residential area and I am so pleased we opted for character instead of corporate city centre hotels. Would have preferred if breakfast was served until 10am but that is because our saturday morning sleep ins are so precious!'

'The car park is situated down a narrow steepish lane alongside the hotel, and quite a walk back to the hotel with cases etc. You could possibly un load outside the hotel,but there are some restrictions. The first room we were offered was up the second of two staircases, and was very very steep, and we could not manage it, but were lucky that someone offered to change with us. Whilst I recommend the hotel, make sure you ask for a room on the first floor if you have any problems with walking. The breakfast was very good, with any combination from the full English breakfast offered, and freshly cooked eggs. The room we had was excellent, and the bathroom (ensuite) which was behind two doors that looked like another cupboard was surprisingly large, with disposable bath mats, which I thought was excellent.We would stay there again.'

'The welcome was vert warm and they actually changed the time of breakfast on the Sunday for me and started serving half an hour early. The room was basic but was not expecting the Hilton, so was just fine for me. Most importantly the bed was comfortable and the place was quiet, so I got a pretty good night's sleep. Breakfast was small but I am a big lad, but I can't complain as it was well made full english and there was cereal but I don't eat that. Overall would stay again.'

'I stayed one night at the Montgomery Hotel for the UK Indoor Athletics Championships. I often stay around the country for such events on a budget. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was good quality, well cooked and well presented, the room and 'single' bed (it was a small double) were a good size (better than some broom cupboards I have stayed in). 'The hotel was not of the sort I would normally stay at; the location is in the middle of a residential street. When we got there the welcome was fine. We were shown to our room (haven't experienced that in years). Passages a bit "tired" - but then we found the room to be excellent. Clean, bright, good tv, ample coffee making, excellent breakfast - and a bar downstairs for a cheeky glass of wine! The "Lounge" - bar and coffee bar downstairs is an excellent initiative.
