grindsbrook cottage review
5 stars 5

'Excellent 4 night stay. The poor weather did not spoil it. My favourite part of the country, stunning views and great walks. If i could improve the cottage all i would do is put some coat hooks up in the hallway.'

Just a perfect weekend break with friends!
5 stars 5

'Lovely cosy accommodation, clean & tidy. Not huge but good for the price. Pub landlord was exceptionally nice about our needs regarding my friend\'s dog. It was the friendliest pub I have been in in ages, the staff were unbelievably friendly and the carvery was just the best ever with FOUR veggie options in addition to the usual meat options!'

Compact but great.
4 stars 4

'I stayed here for 3 nights in the summer holidays with my mum, sister in law & 3 children. Advertised as a cottage, but is in fact an apartment with its own entrance above the pub. Clean, well presented and a great base for our stay. Probably a tad small for our group, but I would definitely return with fewer people. Kitchen was useful with oven, microwave, fridge etc. Bathroom nice & clean. Not enough towels for the 6 of us, but as we had brought our own it wasn't a problem. Beautiful location in the pretty village of Edale, the kids loved the stream running between the pub & the hills. Central for trips to various attractions. Easy to find. I must have missed the notice when I booked, but be aware that only 1 car park space is allocated per cottage. We had a bit of an embarrassing situation on arrival as we had to travel in 2 cars and tried to use a 2nd space! A misunderstanding that was quickly sorted out. After that, the staff were all really helpful and friendly. We had food in the pub one night and were made very welcome. Nice atmosphere. The manager was great on departure when I offered to pay for a small mirror one of our children had broken during the stay. She very kindly told me not to worry. We had no problem sleeping surprisingly as the entrance is the other side to the pub and heard no other noise during our stay. All in all, a nice little place to stay.'

'Had a wonderful stay in Kinder Cottage attached to Old Nags Head at Eadle. The food at the pub is fantastic and they serve until 9:30 which was a god send as we arrived quite late on the Friday. Property compact but has everything you need and was extremely clean and comfortable.'

Relaxing New Year's eve
4 stars 4

'My husband, his mother and I wanted to spend New Year's eve in a cosy country pub with a roaring open fire. We were not disappointed. The staff were, without exception, friendly, helpful and welcoming and the evening's entertainment was most enjoyable. We particularly liked the free buffet of tiny portions of delicious food. We changed our plans and had dinner in the pub on New Year's Day on the strength of this and enjoyed the special menu available on that day. The accommodation, a small flat rather than a cottage, was adequate for the three of us and we appreciated the comfy beds and settee. The only slight negative was the fact that the living room window would not shut properly, and we had to try and seal it with cling film as best we could to keep out the icy draught - hence four rather than five stars! Over all I would recommend the Old Nags Head. We will almost certainly return and will hopefully have better weather so as to take advantage of the excellent walking in the area.'

After Xmas stay
4 stars 4

'We enjoyed a very good 3 night stay in Kinder Cottage at the Old Nag's Head. The accommodation was warm, clean and well-equipped. The cottage is a very good base for exploring Edale, but it would be rather cramped if we had been stuck indoors as we are a family of 5. We were very lucky with the weather, so we were able to spend most of our time outside, walking. All in all, a successful stay and I would recommend both the pub and the adjoining cottage.'
