A homely and kindly place to stay
4 stars 4

'Upon arrival we were shown to our accomodation (a ground floor room since my husband has difficiulty with stairs) and immediately offered tea following our journey. Breakfast was ordered each evening, and tea/coffee was plentiful at the table. The room was clean and well furnished and the ensuite was well maintained. Because my husband had a fall whilst we were at Appledore and was hospitalised I had to ask if it was possible for me to stay on until my niece or friends returned to the area some five days later. Mr and Mrs Hunt were kindness itself and I enjoyed some excellent evening meals with locally sourced meat, fish and vegetables, and home-made desserts. As the weather was a little chill in the evenings, it was good to have the heating put on (despite it still being September). I would have no hesitation in recommending Sunnymeade to friends or family.'

Our stay
4 stars 4

'We enjoyed our stay our second visit. My wife, currently on crutches following surgery to her ankle, appreciated the room for the disabled, although the wet room facility does get slippery, perhap a non slip mat would help. The food cooked by Michael was excellent, an option of small or large portions would be good to avoid waste. Some help for Lynda in waiting at tables would be advisable.'

Dog Lovers Welcome
3 stars 3

'I have put average only because, my wife and I considered your accomadation to be rather tired looking inside and a possible update required. However, your friendly manner, excellent breakfast and service were very good, plus your vacilities for the dogs, and disabled users. I would stay again and would recommend you to other mature dog lovers like ourselves. thank you again for your hospitality.'

A mixed view!
4 stars 4

'When we arrived, we received a wonderful welcoming and we were delighted to see how dog friendly the B&B was. We were invited out to the enclosed garden where we could let our dog run free and we enjoyed a cup of tea. The owners loved chatting to us and told us all about the area which was nice. The bedroom was nice although had a kettle and cup missing. It took a while including a visit to our room for this to be rectified. After going for a little wonder around, we returned to be asked for our payment in full up front, which surprised us but we obliged. We were also told to leave our key on the hooks (which are completely unsecured and on full view) in the reception area, I was uncomfortable with this. The overnight stay was peaceful but breakfast in the dining room was dissapointing. We were told to leave our dog in the car, something which I'd have understood if it wasn't for the fact that the two resident labradors were lounging between the dining room and kitchen. Our table was filthy and the crockery wasn't much better. Again we were missing a cup and saucer. When the full english arrived, the tomato had mould on it. This B&B really lacks attention to detail - we were the only people staying that night and still we experienced problems and uncleanliness. The owners repeatedly reminded us to leave a review but from reading others, it's rather striking how so many people have commented on the same issues over a period of years yet the B&B does nothing to address them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the owners seemed like lovely people but how it achieved its high rating I am not so sure.'

Weekend break.
4 stars 4

'We arrived to find we were not expected due to a lightning strike - some sort of back up needed? Room very comfortable although not fully ready - no soap, no milk for tea/coffee. Breakfasts very good with plenty of choice. Only had dinner on first night - very ordinary, just chicken and steak pie and small choice of desserts. No dinner available Sunday evening. No mention of any bar service. A pleasant weekend with nice company.'
