'Sadly we only stayed one night but, our room was very nice and spacious, made even better with being able to take a hot bath after a long day of travel from Cork Ireland. The hostess was very welcoming, and accommodating. The tea room was very nice and cheery, the scone I had was delicious as was the bacon sandwich my husband had. We do hope we can visit again.'

'A friend and I stayed for 2 nights while visiting Edinburgh for the Tattoo. We found the hotel on the internet and were very happy with our choice. We had a twin room which was clean, cosy and more than adequate for our needs. We had a choice of breakfast in our hotel, or in the larger hotel across the road. We had a lovely stay, friendly and helpful staff in beautiful surroundings and countryside. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a lovely break away. Anne and Nicky'

What a find

'A great welcome to us and our dog. A very comfortable night and good advice for our evening meal. We opted for a bacon roll in the morning - freshly cooked with good coffee in the Tea Room on the ground floor. Only possible disadvantage is that breakfast is across the road in the Rosslyn Inn.'

Wonderful and pleasantly relaxing.
5 stars 5

'We arrived and were met by the proprietor Richardand his lovely wife Amy. They made us feel welcome and at home from that moment onwards right up until we left early on the tuesday morning, some 9 nights later. The room was always clean and very tidy and the linen service fantastic. Our little dog Poppy was also very pleased with her stay, especially enjoying the challenge of the rabbits in the lanes and fields opposite. There was almost no noise whatsoever and this with the beautiful backdrop of the Lothians made this a most excellant and pleasant relaxing holiday. If you are looking for reliable, relaxed excellant service in a quiet quaint little village only 20 minutes drive from Edinburgh city centre then this guesthouse is well recommended. We wanted for nothing throughout the whole 10 day stay.'

Great location, great base for Edinburgh, lovely staff
5 stars 5

'Stayed here for a week as base for the Edinburgh Fringe. Decent accommodation, clean and comfortable. Ensuite bathroom a bit cramped though. Food lovely and reasonably priced, with a very eccentric range of teapots! 24 hour bus service outside the hotel in and out of Edinburgh, very handy for the fringe. You get your own front door keys, so no problem getting in at 4am as we did (except for the creaky floorboards !) Overall, a great stay and would be happy to return or recommend to others.'

Nice short stay
5 stars 5

'I stayed one night for a business trip. My late check in was not a problem as staff welcomed me promtly and was very helpful and cheerful. Since the hotel the other side of the road (which they send you you to for early breafasts) was not offering breakfast that day, they opened their tea room 30 min earlier just for me and they prepared an amazing, massive, cooked english breakfast. I am gluten free, and they did everything to give me the best breakfast anyway (even by bringing down gluten free cereals and rolls from their own personal kitchen). The room was clean and tidy. Shower was working properly and water/tea/cofee and biscuits were available. About 40 min bus to Edinburgh centre but 10 min walking from Roslin Biocentre I will be back for sure in my next business trip there.'

'I stayed here in July for two nights while attending a cat show in Edinburgh. The room was lovely and clean and had everything I needed and everyone was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. It was nice and quiet at night and the bed was really comfortable and I had the best night's sleep that I've had while staying away from home. There is a very nice tea rooms on the premises which is well worth a visit. If you have a car then it is a fairly short drive in to Edinburgh. The establishment is pet friendly and I was able to bring my two cats with me and they appeared to enjoy their stay and seemed really settled in the room. I would thoroughly recommend staying here and would certainly stay here again myself.'

I arrived to collect the keys on the Saturday afternoon and when checking in I was greeted by the lovely staff (forgive me I've forgotten their names) they knew I was surprising my girlfriend with the night away and gave us a bottle of proseco. The room was clean and tidy and there were teas and coffees in the hall. I couldn't have been happier with our stay and my girlfriend loved it too.
