Brilliant Stay!
5 stars 5

'We were made very welcome on arrival, all of the staff are lovely from the Bar, Restaurant and Housekeeping and could not do enough for us. Room we stayed in had patio doors to a decked terrace with views of open countryside, lovely to sit out on with a drink or coffee when the weather is nice. The standard of food was excellent so complements to the chef. We will definitely visit again and recommend this to our friends.'

What a gem

'It\'s not the most luxurious hotelroom I\'ve ever been in, bud definitely the most welcoming stay in ages! All personnel was so friendly and welcoming, it was just a very relaxed and pleasing stay. The restaurant downstaird is really good. The terrace views stunning and all that in a very charming village. A good place if you want to go on walks (with or without a dog), a visit to Canterbury, or just travelling through. I would definitely recommend staying here.'

'Lovely setting in a pretty village just outside of Canterbury. We stayed in the Ramsay room which was comfortable and well presented with a complimentary chocolate port! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our only 1 niggle was the kitchen extractor fan that went on and off through the night which was a little annoying but we would go back and stay again.'

'Located in a wonderfully historic area this b&b was fabulous! But it is more than that, this lovely pub felt as though it hadn\'t lost that charm of a good village local but just added fabulous attention to detail. Staff were friendly and very welcoming and able to provide advice to visit surrounding areas (thanks Summer). Liza was excellent and made us feel, like family, thanks! (Enjoy your travels). The rooms were comfortable and provided everything we needed and we were lucky to look from the balcony each morning with beautiful views over the countryside. The food, well we didn\'t have enough time to try all dishes but all the ones we did were amazing, great just the best!'

'A delightful boutique pub in a beautiful village. Friendly staff, good food, newly refurbished bedrooms and bathroom facilities. Complementary bottled water and nightcap liquor in room. We were a couple of female friends - uncomfortable about sharing the bed! The staff were happy to make-up a very comfortable single bed in the room. Slight issue with ventilation. It was a hot evening and the room was very hot when we arrived. It was located next to the extractor exhaust from the kitchen so we were reluctant to open the window until cooking had stopped.'

'We stayed at the Duke William as well as eating one Saturday night. The staff were all very friendly and our table service was prompt. The atmosphere was relaxed and buzzy. We tried two wines and were pleased with both. The food was well executed - my wife enjoyed her scallop starter especially, although she would have liked a touch more black pudding ! I particularly liked my main course of roast chicken breast. We will be back.'

'We couldn\'t have had a better stay here. The village and surrounding villages are beautiful and quaint; a lovely setting. We stayed in the Stein room, which had French Windows leading out to a lovely terrace with tables and chairs to sit and look out over the Kent countryside. We enjoyed sitting out here and watching the sun set over the fields. The surrounding villages are beautiful and we enjoyed pretty walks across the open countryside. 'I found this place online and it had great reviews but I wasn\'t expecting it to be as lovely as it was. The rooms were gorgeous (we stayed in Stein & Ramsey), reminded me of rooms in Shoreditch House, Soho House group, lovely decor and finishing touches. The staff were really friendly and attentive, suggesting local places to visit. Breakfast was great and they have a lovely garden so we sat out reading the papers and enjoyed the view. 'We stayed at the Duke William for two nights as an Anniversary surprise and found the pub to be an excellent choice both from it\'s situation to Canterbury and also it\'s location in the village of Ickham with wonderful views of the fields from the lovely garden. The Pub itself is decorated with aspects of the rustic old which reflect it\'s age and finished with stylish \'quirky\' modern details that give it a warming character. Our room was well appointed with lovely touches including some unique detailed finishes to reflect the \'Chef\' which each of the rooms were named after. The staff (incl Bella, Fleur/Summer to name a few!) could not be more helpful, accommodating and attentive during our stay and made it a wonderful weekend to relax in great surroundings with wonderful honest food/drinks and friendly staff! Great Little Find
5 stars 5

'Just back from having spent 3 nights here and used as a base for exploring further afield. What a great little find. All of the staff were very welcoming and hospitable, the rooms were beautifully decorated and well equipped, the views from the garden stunning, the food was superb and the breakfast was so big it kept us going all day. I would, and have started to, recommend The Duke William to all my friends and family and will definitely be going back. I will mention that the pub/restaurant is directly below the rooms and the ceiling hasn\'t been soundproofed so guests can hear all conversations in the pub word for word when in a bedroom. This didn\'t bother us too much as we are night owls but for those wanting an early night, it may be a problem. Can\'t recommend highly enough and looking forward to going back again some time soon. Great find nestling in East Kent countryside
4 stars 4

'If you are looking for a comfortable night or two with good quality food and friendly service The Duke William fits the bill. We were delighted with the welcome we recieved and the lovely room overlooking stretching fields.Everything met our needs and after a comfortable night a freshly cooked breakfast. One thing to note though it is a pub so there is bar noise but this subsided after closing and didnt affect a peaceful nights sleep.Well done Sam,Chef and your team.'

Don\'t hesitate
5 stars 5

'We only had the one night; we were exploring a part of Kent unknown to us. Such a lovely stay and we so wish we had had longer. A warm welcome, a fire and newspapers, a hugely enjoyable supper with two old friends. A good bedroom, good bed, good bedlinen, beautifully quiet. Next morning a terrific breakfast with some of the best quality ingredients you could wish for.'

Night Away
5 stars 5

'We visited the Duke William and stayed overnight between Xmas and New Year. The room was excellent complete with a Nespresso machine & pods. The staff in the Pub downstairs could not have been any more accommodating or friendly & the food was also very good. Nothing was too much trouble. The full English breakfast was excellent, also with excellent service. I would happily recommend the Duke William to friends & family. Hugh Diamond'

Schönster Pub in Kent!!!
5 stars 5

'Wunderbarer typischer Pub in schöner Umgebung. Peroni Bier vom Fass!!!'

Great find!
5 stars 5

'I feel very lucky to have come across the Duke William. Set in a lovely village close to Canterbury, this is a real find of a place. Friendly staff, very cosy, stylish and tidy. Great food and selection of drinks too! Hard to fault really. The one thing I would say is there is you can hear the music/noise of the pub below depending on what time you go to bed, but being fairly new parents we managed to fall straight to sleep without any issues!'

'Stayed two nights - very friendly staff, rooms are great, very warm, comfy beds, great showers and wifi is very good. Access is great, dogs are welcome, parking is easy and the evening food very good by the roaring fire. The best bit - amazing full English breakfast - one of the best I have eaten. A charming oasis
4 stars 4

'Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Very good decor with lots of character, good amenities, good food and drinks, comfortable bed. The Floyd room experienced noise from the bar and smokers below the window, stopping at 12pm and starting at 8.30am, may not apply to other rooms. Would stay again, excellent value.'

'i thought I\'d surprise my hubby with a little overnight trip out in the Kent English countryside along with a nice meal by way of celebrating 34 blissful years of marriage. Well we come up trumps with little gem I must say. On arrival we were welcomed with such warmth you almost felt like family. The accommodation is of a very high standard. The food......simply divine.
