'A clean and comfortable room. Around a 15 minute walk to the amazing city centre. According to my IPhone map it is 1 mile. Can assure you it did not feel like a mile walk and is very direct and easy. Hotel gives information on what to do and see. There is a swimming pool. Car park tricky in a big car, typical Canterbury style though, so is in keeping. Lovely breakfast. Enjoy'

'Greatly enjoyed staying at Thanington Hotel in Canterbury. The rooms were very comfortable and had a certain charm you won't find in a chain hotel. The included breakfast was excellent and gave an opportunity to meet some of the other hotel guests. The staff were all very friendly to a single person travelling alone and the price per night was very competitive.'

'This is our fourth stay at the Thanington and we always love it and have a great stay. Lovely staff, beautifully clean and quiet hotel. Lovely food. Always made to feel welcome. Great being able to park our van on site for the whole stay and so conveniently located that you can walk to town. Highly recommended. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!'

Cleanest room ever
5 stars 5

'What a great surprise. I am phobic about cleanliness and normally find it difficult to stay at a hotel, but this hotel is spotless. Excellent staff and service as well. Better than most of the large 5 Star hotels I have stayed in.'

'We had a great time even though the main road was being resurfaced. Pool is a great bonus and we did make use of it. Staff are very attentive. The car parking is a challenge but we did not have a problem with it, if you have an expensive car you will be stressed. A+ from us'

Weekend in Canterbury
4 stars 4

'We booked a weekend in Canterbury and stayed at the Thanington Hotel. Very conveniently situated about 10mins walk to the city. Staff are very friendly and breakfast is outstanding! The room was spacious (family room - we stayed with our 2 children aged 6 and 10). A bonus is definately the private parking space.'

'The friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever stayed with. Smashing hotel, a good night's sleep, pretty garden with a pool and freshly cooked breakfast. A noisy walk into town with busy traffic, but safe car parking makes up for that. Would definitely stay again when in Canterbury, thank you.'

Thanington Hotel
5 stars 5

'Pleasant, clean hotel, friendly staff and located a 10 min walk from the centre of Canterbury, not a bad thing as Cantebury old town is virtually off limits to vehicles. It also makes a great base for exploring the rest of Kent. The indoor pool was warm and welcoming after a long day visiting the many sites of Kent! We would stay again if ever in the area.'

A one night stay in the summer
5 stars 5

'Stayed one night in the Canterbury Suite. First impressions when arriving on Wincheap are not the best. The hotel is near an industrial estate. However the hotel itself was very good. The suite which is on the second floor consists of a lounge which is at the back of the hotel and an en-suite bedroom at the front. The lounge had a tv and dvd player and also a cd player. It also has a fridge. The bed was comfortable. We didn't use the swimming pool but sat in the very pleasant gardens at the back of the hotel. We walked into Canterbury centre which took us just over 10 minutes. Breakfast was very good. The quality and quantity were good. We would stay here again if in the area.'

Relaxing stay
4 stars 4

'Small is beautiful and in The Thanington’s case it is. It was very refreshing to stay in a more individualised hotel. The Owner and his staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Canterbury Suite and it was worth the extra money. We had a separate lounge (with fridge). The bathroom was a really good size – didn’t realise until day 2 that you have to pull the cord by the door to get the main shower to work. It was very relaxing and peaceful to sit out in the garden at night. Breakfast was freshly made to order so was piping hot. In summary the Thanington delivers what big hotel chains cannot and that it a much more individualised service in a relaxing atmosphere. Thank you'

A great stay
5 stars 5

'We had a lovely 3-night stay at the Thanington Hotel for our first anniversary. We stayed in one of the '4-poster' rooms facing the front of the hotel and the park. We found the room comfortable and well-appointed with everything we needed for a lovely long weekend. The breakfast was great with lots of continental choices as well as the full English option. There is a lovely garden, pool and Koi pond in the center of the hotel that is a nice place to enjoy a drink after spending the day in Canterbury. What makes this place great, though, is the staff. Iain and Jenny and their staff were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure our anniversary was special! Thanks again, we will be back! R & R'

Thanington Hotel review
5 stars 5

'Room 11 was a quiet location with good view of the pond and garden, with lots of natural light. The accommodation was very acceptable and as our stay was in bright sunshine the provision of a fan was very welcome. Instant hot water, even first thing in the morning was noted. Breakfast was served efficiently and cooked excellently. The hotel was situated conveniently for the town and the provision of a categorised restaurant list was useful. A reserved car parking space was appreciated. Rating is 5 out of 5 (clicking on stars did not respond on my computer!).'
