'Once again we stayed at The Angel Inn in Bowness for a short break. We always enjoy ourselves in the knowing that when we come in from the day out there is a great atmosphere at The Angel. Good food and a good selection of drinks. Wonderful and helpful staff that are always on hand to offer help or advice on where to go etc. However, yes here it comes: The only problem with "ROOM 11" there are no hooks on the back of the door/s or ANYWHERE to hang a coat or your clothes! They could easily remedy this and also put a small table chair in the room by the window. This will probably take the owner or member of staff half an hour at the most to remedy. 'My husband and I stayed at The Angel Inn for two nights having previously dined in the restaurant. Although on the expensive side, the room and service provided to us was worth every penny. We had a large bedroom with lounge area, large bathroom and spacious bath. In the bar and restaurant the waiting staff were excellent and we decided to dine in on both nights of our stay. Although the menu is limited, the food is impeccable and the limited choices obviously allow the chef to focus on quality! Fantastic choice for breakfast, lovely bar and relaxing area in front of the beautiful log fire. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying with you again in the future!'

'We came for a two night stay over Easter and the Angel Inn was fantastic! The location was definitely a positive for us as you're right in the centre of Bowness. The restaurant/pub onthe ground floor is great as you can relax for as long as you want and then head upstairs to your room. We took advantage of the gym/spa the Angel Inn has a link with, which was great. It's only a 5min walk down to the lakeside where the gym/spa is located. There was no problem handing over the pass and the staff were great. There are only 4 passes available for the gym so get them early in the day! The food was great for both dinner and breakfast. All locally sourced, where possible, and the staff are really polite and helpful. We'd definitely stay here again, especially as the Lakes are becoming an annual thing!'

'Stayed a few times now, favourite place in Bowness. Right in centre, so brill for coffee shops,restaurants and bars. Enjoyed a lovely dinner in the Angel restaurant, so not hungry when we got up for breakfast the following day. Walked down to lake (five mins)then ate a hearty breakfast (delicious)served by friendly pleasant staff, nothing too much trouble. Although some of the rooms are smallish they are quality in furnishings. Larger rooms are exceptional. TIP if you stay over Sunday evening slightly out of season is very very reasonable. We have stayed in one of the best rooms (No 1) and in the smaller rooms - ALWAYS faultless. Our 23 year old daughter and her partner also love The Angel. Highly recommended.'

'We recently spent three days at the Angel Inn, in the Executive Lake view room which is in the Gatehouse. Although the weather wasn't good I still managed to sit in the window and have a fantastic view of the lake. On our first evening we ate in the restaurant and had a fantastic meal which was very well presented and excellent service. A very good choice of breakfast(Mmmmm! 'From the moment we arrived to our departure, we had a fabulous time. The staff were attentive, our suite in the gatehouse and the food and drink were all excellent. Would recommend the full Cumbrian breakfast to set your day off to a fine start, or if you like something a little less filling, the smoked salmon is also excellent. The suite we stayed in was that little bit special. Felt very pampered all weekend! Plus, because it was my birthday, the Angel staff had arranged for flowers to be delivered at my husband's request and the florist in Bowness did a beautiful job. 'My husband and I stayed at the Angel Inn to see in the new year this year. We have been to the lakes many times in the past and also visited the Angel Inn for eats and drinks on every occasion but this is the first year we have actually stayed there. The staff are very warm and friendly. The atmosphere is lively and buzzing and they have a great open fire in a lovely and comfortable lounge. Our room, although a little on the small side was very warm and cosy with a fantastic power shower which is what you need after a day walking in the hills in the cold and rain. 'The Room was very clean and warm.The TV had no remote and we were promised one or a change of TV the next day but it never happened.The staff were all very friendly and helpful.The only dissapointment was the food.We ordered a steak with Handcut chunky chips,which turned out to be frozen scraps of potatoes basically about two chunky ones,they were also hard,we did complain but were told the chef said they are handcut by the supplier,they were frozen out of a bag,i am in the catering business and would not have served these especially when we paid £19.00 each you expect better.The bacon at breakfast was so hard you couldnt cut it.Maybe a little more care with the food would have made it a perfect stay.'

'This is the first time we have stayed in Bowness so had no idea of what to expect. Weather wasn't to bad, a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers, but even the rain didn't spoil are visit as it gave us the opportunity to get in the car and visit places we might not have otherwise. We went round most of the lakes and the scenery at this time of the year, when the leaves are turning gold is absolutely stunning. Now a few words on our stay at the Angel Inn. Well we stayed in room 1 with a view over the lake, the room is quite large with a large double bed and couple of armchairs and has a very nice large bathroom with bath and shower. There was also a good selection of teas and coffee available. Glad that we chose that room as i believe it to be one of the best and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly polite and very efficient. We stayed for 3 nights and had our evening meals at the hotel and they were some of the best meals that we have had, we can highly recommend that you eat there you will not be disappointed. The best recommendation we can give the Angel Inn is when we return to Bowness we will not be looking for alternative accommodation. Thankyou for a very enjoyable stay.'

The staff were friendly and helpfull, the room was decorated and furnished to a good standard and was cleaned daily and fresh towels left. the choice of breakfasts was great and cooked perfectly. The inn may be hard for someone with walking difficulties due to the hill it's situated on but is easily accessable by car and is only a few minutes walk to the lake. Overall i would certanly reccommend the Angel for anyone thinking of having a break in Bowness.'

'Awe woow, What can I say ? Thank you so much The Angel Inn, from the moment we arrived we were surprised at the reception we received and frienldlyness of the staff. This was our first stay for both me and my girlfriend Elle, we stayed in room 1 overlooking the lake and what fabulous views ! The room was lovely and clean and in all honesty didn't expect anything other than quality. I would also like to say a massive thank you to Michelle she was lovely, fantastic customer service.. We decided to eat within the establishment going off recommendation and reading reviews from previous Angel stayers, the quality of the food and presentation was immense, probably one of the best meals myself and Elle having ever had. 'Just got home from a lovely stay with you at The Angel Inn! We have eaten at your establishment before and really wanted to stay and we are so glad we did! Looking on the internet at different B&Bs there was nothing that even came close to what we found at The Angel. We wanted somewhere cosy and traditional, yet modern and clean with good food and atmosphere, and of course somewhere that welcomes children as we have an 11month old baby. The Angel Inn has all these qualilties as well as being in the perfect location, everywhere is in walking distance, it is exactly what we were looking for. We cannot say there was anything wrong with our stay at all, it was perfect, and we will definately stay again aswell as recommend it to others. We had our parents with us too and they loved it as much as us. We had the most amazing meal in the restaurant, and then relaxed in the lovely lounge and bar area which is lively yet relaxing at the same time, perfect atmosphere. Lovely room and fab breakfast. Oh and a great view to top it off! I honestly could go on and on, cannot fault anything at all!! It was perfect, thank you so much. 'I loved the Angel inn. Myself and a female friend were looking for somewhere with a bit of luxury but good value, and after a couple of hours searching for somewhere in Bowness, this seemed impossible, until we came across the Angel Inn. All the staff were friendly and helpful from the word go, so it was a warm atmosphere instead of the pretentious vibes that you get in some of these nice places. One day we were even given a freshly picked hand-full of sweetpeas when we noticed a member of staff had just picked a bunch from the garden! The room was gorgeous-the epitome of good taste,and the facilities were great. This particular room had a double sized shower, so it felt very luxurious. We actually stayed an extra night than planned, and had a different room, which was equally as nice,and the furnishings were just as "boutique" but with different touches. So a lot of thought and interior decor talent had gone into the rooms. It is really boutique accommodation, but rather than being over the top prices, the rates were standard - not cheap, but not stupid either. In fact, exactly what you'd have paid at a B&B I remember visiting in Windereme a few years ago where the room was dusty and horrible. The place as a whole is just so well cared for, furnished in good taste, and has loads of character. I am not surprised that non-staying guests come to eat at the restaurant, because the food is really decent, and the breakfast was always good. I'll definitely be coming back, and I am sat at work daydreaming about our little trip.'

'This place was excellent, right from ringing to book the room to departure. We brought our bikes with us and the staff were more than happy to store them in the secure cellar so they would be safe. Breakfast was excellent and a good selection of fruit, cereal and cooked food was available. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and really made us feel welcome. Location is perfect for exploring Windermere and surrounding areas and there is plenty of parking if you just wanted to leave the car and go out on the bikes or walk. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean, with the usual tea/coffee facilities and flat screen tv. A nice touch was the alarm clock with iPod dock, useful if like me you forget your phone charger! All in all a great stay and will definitely be back!'

'This hotel has every thing you would want, no matter what your age. Its right in the middle of Bowness, so you dont have to use the car. 'On arrival we had lunch at the Angel Inn. After being served with drinks from the miserable bar man my little boy spilt the best part of his fruit shoot drink across the table and onto the floor! We informed the above bar man who quickly came to clear it up and replace the cap on the little remains in the bottle saying "we don't want to spill anymore"! Our son was obviously upset and thought it would be nice to be offered another drink as he was very upset and had basically spilt the lot! We continued eating lunch which was very nice and then checked in at the bar with the bar man! - who seemed more friendly as we were staying guests. Our stay at the Angel was very nice and all other staff were friendly and smiley, the service was excellent but chose to eat out on all other occasions after the initial meal we ate there. We spent £345 on this accommodation and were disappointed with the lack of offering a replacement child's drink!'

'This Hotel has got to be one of the most central to a stay in Bowness/Windemere. The Room was very nice, No.12, and all the food and service of a very high quality. We have no hesitation in recommending the Angel Inn to anyone who is considering a stay in the Lake District, The rooms are very clean, the food is excellent, the Breakfast is Fab, and you would have to be so picky to truly find a fault. Anywhere can be beaten, if you want to pay a house price to stay in some of the over rated and VERY over priced Hotels within spitting distance of this excellent venue then feel free, after all as we say in Yorkshire "A fool and his money is soon parted" Cheers now.'

'Great location. Rooms smaller than expected. Bathroom very small. However, the room was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished so adequate for a short break. We ate in the restuarant on both evenings and the food was lovely. Only downside was the slow service. Once our order had been taken the food did arrive in a timely fashion, but on both evenings we had to remind the waiter/waitress several times before our drinks arrived. However, the lovely food compensated for this. Breakfast was also good - service was better at breakfast. All in all a lovely weekend break. Shame about the weather!!'

'The staff were all extremely helpful & friendly. We asked them if they would do their ploughman's as a picnic for us, which they did even though they were busy; it was beautifully wrapped, & they gave us the accompaniments in the dishes they use in the hotel, plus china plates & proper cutlery - all packed in a convenient sized box - well above the average service. Our room was also comfortable, with a large bed & 2 comfortable chairs - also a spacious bathroom. Breakfasts were good, as was the food at lunchtime - we didn't eat there in the evening The hotel is well positioned in the centre of Bowness. We would certainly recommend it - indeed, we have already done so.'

'Stayed at the Angel Inn for two nights 25/26th May and had a great stay. The location is ideal with adequate parking and an easy stroll down into the town and lake area. Stayed in room 5 which was modern and and well furnished and overlooked the car park and a view of the lake. The en-suite was a little on the small size but had an excellent shower. We dined there twice and the food quality and presentation was excellent with no smudged finger marks on the plates - we dined in the restaurant as it was difficult to get a table outside due to the great weather and the numbers of diners wanting to eat there. Great service from everyone including the girls servicing the room which were immaculate with a good selection of teas and coffee.Definitely will stay there again and excellent value for money.'

'My mother and I stayed for 2 nights in May in a standard double room with breakfast. The rooms were comfortable enough and the facilities were good. Certain parts of the bathroom did have build ups of dust in some of the corners but was not really an issue, more something that could be focussed on by the cleaning staff. The breakfast was excellent and the one particular member of staff really stood out. 'This was our 3rd visit to the Angel ans as normal a very enjoyable stay. We do have one complaint (room 2) that we were given sits above the bar. It is noisy through the day with bar music and customers, you do get a rest bite around 11pm when the bar closes. The shower needs some TLC when the hot water is used it screams its head off in agony as I quickly tried to shower and shave in Olympic time. If you can avoid this room then everything else is excellent, service, cleanliness and atmosphere.'

'We had two rooms at The Angel, at the end of April 2012. Rooms 12 and 7. Both rooms were very comfortable, not the biggest, but this is a Pub not some elderly Victorian mansion. The quality of the fittings were excellent and the beds were extremely comfortable. We decided to eat at The Angel on both evenings, this was a very wise decision! The breakfast's are superb but the evening meals are even better. We have all eaten in many many good pubs and restaurants but The Angel has a superb chef. Everything from the presentation to the pleasantness of the staff was excellent and the food was even better, especially at the price. There are many restaurants in Bowness who charge far more and provide far less. I would vote this Stay at 12 out of 10 at least. Well done to the team at the Angel!!!'

'We stayed here for our 25th Anniversary and were not disappointed, my sister arranged (with the hotel) for flowers and champagne to be in the room when we arrived and they were lovely. However, there were a couple of points which were disappointing (considering the Friday night was charge at £145!) The bathroom mirror light did not work, when we complained about this we were told this had happened before and you just have to 'fiddle with it' the bedroom light was not adequate to cover the mirror in the bedroom, the lampshades in the bedroom were very tatty. I just think room 15 needs a bit of TLC, other than these points we were very happy and the food in the restaurant was excellent.'

The food was very good and the rooms were very clean and comfortable.The staff were exceptional and we both really enjoyed using the leisure facilities at the nearby hotel. The cost of this was included in the room rate which was a bonus. There was a nice pool, sauna, steam room and an ice room as well as a well equipped gym. 'My husband and I booked this room for us and our two daughters who are 5 and 21 months, the room was spacious and very well decorated, the location is amazing and the staff make this place extra special! The breakfast was out of this world fantastic choice, generous servings and again fantastic very friendly service. We ate in the restaurant the second night of out stay and we were blown away we wish we would have eaten there both nights, amazing value and fantastic very well presented food. 'Without doubt the Angel Inn has the most idilic setting, perched central for all needs in Bowness. It's tiered seating area simply soaks up the sun from morning until dusk. We stayed in one of the suites which was of a very high standard and everything one could need, staff are polite and very helpful. We only sampled the day snacks but again these are of the best quality, if the evening meals are as you need never venture away from the Angel. Only sorry we stayed just the one night but when returning to the lakes I will be staying here.'

'This is the second time we have stayed at The Angel and found it to be a pleasant and lovely location. We did feel that maybe not enough interest was taken in the guests who were residential and paying to stay at The Angel, simple things like asking if you wanted a table in the restuarant, ensuring there was allocated parking for each room as on at least two occasions we returned and were not able to park. A lovely spot with some good staff, but there does need to be further work completed on how the guests are allowed for as we paid a lot of money for the room and some of the very basic things were not right.'

The Service was 5 star the Staff could not have been any nicer from our check in to our breakfast (the young men at breakfast were so polite and on the ball!) to us checking out was excellent. This had 2 rooms and a bathroom the adjoining room had a bed setee for the kids which was ok for them but would be no good for a 3rd adult as the springs stuck right out. The door had been removed between the 2 rooms which they said was going to be put back on, much needed if youve got young kids who get up early! we had breakfast each morning which was delicious and had an evening meal which was very good, this hotel is very central and would definately recommend it.'

The follwing is all you need to know. 1.The rooms are clean modern with every thing you need. 2. location could not be better, no need to use the car the pubs and restaurants are on the door step. 3. The atmosphere is cosy and romantic, if you love the idea of sitting by a log fire with a hot chocolate then this is for you. 4. I suggest you eat at the hotel as least once within your saty (we sit in front of the fire)but the restaurant is bright and moden and the menu is mouthwtering. 5 finaly if you need to de-stress try a three day break if you can, I can garantee you will face anything after a beak in this wonderfull hotel. 'I would just like to say what a lovely say we had here when we visited in November 2011. We were given a very warm welcome by Liam when we arrived. Having not stayed with the hotel before he let us know how it all worked and left us to make our way to our room. The room was very modern, spacious and clean. We were very impressed with the standards. We decided to eat in on the first night and we weren't disappointed. The menu along with the blackboard specials gave an excellent choice. Having sampled the delights of the menu on the first evening we decided to sample some more on the second evening. I would highly recommend eating here, even if you're not staying here it would be well worth a visit. Breakfast was equally impressive with a good choice on offer. I would recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, they were delicious. They obviously have a talented chef working behind the scenes. On the whole I have to say this is an excellent hotel and have recommended it to many of my friends and family should they be visiting the area. Thank you for a lovely stay. We hope to stay here again when we are next in the area.'

'I chose the Angel Inn on recommendation from a friend as a birthday treat for my partner. As a boutique hotel, the Angel manages to achieve a balance between comfy chic and casual pub. I loved our room and the bed has to be one of the comfiest we have ever slept in. Very tasteful and attractively decorated and grateful for the king size duvet. I liked the fact that there were different rooms to eat or just sit in around the bar, each with their own characteristics. So you could eat in the more formal (and modern) restaurant area or you could simply tuck into a huge plate of fish and chips sat by the fire on the sofa. Saturday night was busy and buzzy - clearly the Angel is a favourite locally with all ages. My daughter would love it here. Food does figure as a priority at the Angel Inn and it is telling that the only negative comment I can muster is regarding using sauce sachets as opposed to bottles (can't beat a bottle of ketchup with your chips). That perhaps gives you some idea as to the standard and quality of the food: lovely menu, if a little pricier than perhaps it ought (as is the wine) but we cleared our plates clean and my partner put on 3 pounds over the two nights which tells you something. The fantastic breakfast pancakes I imagine didn't help. The staff were helpful and unobtrusive. We will definitely be returning and recommending to discerning friends and family.'

'This was our second stay at The Angel Inn, (we stayed the same weekend last year), however we visit for meals frequently during the summer. As always the ambience was warm and welcoming and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The food was on the whole super as usual, but just a couple of minor niggles - my husband had the rabbit pudding for his starter at dinner and the carrots inside were barely cooked and the suet pastry wasn't cooked properly. At breakfast, I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, but unfortunately you had run out of smoked salmon, which wasn't a problem in itself, I decided i would just have the scrambled egg with some toast however the scrambled egg was severely overcooked. We stayed in the family room, having a 12 year old child with us. Last year there was a door separating the main bedroom and the family room so that privacy could be afforded to the adults. For some reason that wasn't there this year which we found disappointing. However, even after our 'minor' niggles, we had a delightful time. The staff really are excellent which for us tends to 'make or break' a venue so will have no hesitation in continuing to recommend the Angel to our friends and will be visiting again ourselves in the summer. 'When we were booking in at the Angel we were informed that we were the only guests staying.There are 14 bedrooms at the Angel with room 1 being the nicest room.No upgrade was offered which was very poor considering we have stayed on a number of occasions over the past few years.We asked a member of staff how much it would cost to upgrade to room no 1,she suggested that it would be an additional £40 (£20 pounds per night)We declined the offer and suggested to her that the cost to the Hotel would be the same, washing towels,bedding etc,all to no avail. 'Fantasic. I was looking for a 2 night stay in the lakes with my wife and remembered having a drink here. I rang up and booked a room in the gate house which was amazing. It isn't advertised as having a lake view but in my eyes it does. 'The Angel Inn came to our attention via a recommendation by The Times newspaper and after our three day stay we can confirm this is a gem of a place to stay in the lake District. We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather and the location meant we were able to walk down to Windermere lake within minutes and without the hassle of trying to park in a very popular area jammed with cars. Rooms were clean,tidy and efficient without being too fussy which was just what we needed and the food was delicious. A great chef produced a choice of breakfasts that kept us going until Dinner time when again we enjoyed a very substantial and quality meal. The bar and restaurant is very busy so booking is recommended during holiday times which did also mean there was a lack of places to sit and we had to retire to bed earlier than usual. Overall however a place we would definitely go back to and recommend to others.'

The ambiance is lovely and cosy with a choice of rooms / set ups to sit in; dining room, bar room, conservatory, and a comfy room with sofas and a fireplace all communal. Our actual room was very nicely decorated with a window view of the town and the Lake. Very pretty indeed! I was only there for one night, but it rained heavily all afternoon, so it was great to have a lovely place to sit and chill out. Staff were friendly and helpful.
