The follwing is all you need to know. 1.The rooms are clean modern with every thing you need. 2. location could not be better, no need to use the car the pubs and restaurants are on the door step. 3. The atmosphere is cosy and romantic, if you love the idea of sitting by a log fire with a hot chocolate then this is for you. 4. 'I would just like to say what a lovely say we had here when we visited in November 2011. We were given a very warm welcome by Liam when we arrived. Having not stayed with the hotel before he let us know how it all worked and left us to make our way to our room. The room was very modern, spacious and clean. We were very impressed with the standards. We decided to eat in on the first night and we weren't disappointed. The menu along with the blackboard specials gave an excellent choice. Having sampled the delights of the menu on the first evening we decided to sample some more on the second evening. I would highly recommend eating here, even if you're not staying here it would be well worth a visit. Breakfast was equally impressive with a good choice on offer. I would recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, they were delicious. They obviously have a talented chef working behind the scenes. On the whole I have to say this is an excellent hotel and have recommended it to many of my friends and family should they be visiting the area. Thank you for a lovely stay. 'I chose the Angel Inn on recommendation from a friend as a birthday treat for my partner. As a boutique hotel, the Angel manages to achieve a balance between comfy chic and casual pub. I loved our room and the bed has to be one of the comfiest we have ever slept in. Very tasteful and attractively decorated and grateful for the king size duvet. I liked the fact that there were different rooms to eat or just sit in around the bar, each with their own characteristics. So you could eat in the more formal (and modern) restaurant area or you could simply tuck into a huge plate of fish and chips sat by the fire on the sofa. Saturday night was busy and buzzy - clearly the Angel is a favourite locally with all ages. My daughter would love it here. Food does figure as a priority at the Angel Inn and it is telling that the only negative comment I can muster is regarding using sauce sachets as opposed to bottles (can't beat a bottle of ketchup with your chips). That perhaps gives you some idea as to the standard and quality of the food: lovely menu, if a little pricier than perhaps it ought (as is the wine) but we cleared our plates clean and my partner put on 3 pounds over the two nights which tells you something. The fantastic breakfast pancakes I imagine didn't help. The staff were helpful and unobtrusive. We will definitely be returning and recommending to discerning friends and family.'

'This was our second stay at The Angel Inn, (we stayed the same weekend last year), however we visit for meals frequently during the summer. As always the ambience was warm and welcoming and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The food was on the whole super as usual, but just a couple of minor niggles - my husband had the rabbit pudding for his starter at dinner and the carrots inside were barely cooked and the suet pastry wasn't cooked properly. At breakfast, I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, but unfortunately you had run out of smoked salmon, which wasn't a problem in itself, I decided i would just have the scrambled egg with some toast however the scrambled egg was severely overcooked. We stayed in the family room, having a 12 year old child with us. Last year there was a door separating the main bedroom and the family room so that privacy could be afforded to the adults. For some reason that wasn't there this year which we found disappointing. However, even after our 'minor' niggles, we had a delightful time. The staff really are excellent which for us tends to 'make or break' a venue so will have no hesitation in continuing to recommend the Angel to our friends and will be visiting again ourselves in the summer. Thank you to everyone who served and waited on us.'

'When we were booking in at the Angel we were informed that we were the only guests staying.There are 14 bedrooms at the Angel with room 1 being the nicest room.No upgrade was offered which was very poor considering we have stayed on a number of occasions over the past few years.We asked a member of staff how much it would cost to upgrade to room no 1,she suggested that it would be an additional £40 (£20 pounds per night)We declined the offer and suggested to her that the cost to the Hotel would be the same, washing towels,bedding etc,all to no avail. 'The Angel Inn came to our attention via a recommendation by The Times newspaper and after our three day stay we can confirm this is a gem of a place to stay in the lake District. We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather and the location meant we were able to walk down to Windermere lake within minutes and without the hassle of trying to park in a very popular area jammed with cars. Rooms were clean,tidy and efficient without being too fussy which was just what we needed and the food was delicious. A great chef produced a choice of breakfasts that kept us going until Dinner time when again we enjoyed a very substantial and quality meal. The bar and restaurant is very busy so booking is recommended during holiday times which did also mean there was a lack of places to sit and we had to retire to bed earlier than usual. Overall however a place we would definitely go back to and recommend to others.'

'The Angel Inn was absolutely fantastic! Located centrally to everything and a short pleasant walk to the Windermere Lake. The ambiance is lovely and cosy with a choice of rooms / set ups to sit in; dining room, bar room, conservatory, and a comfy room with sofas and a fireplace all communal. Our actual room was very nicely decorated with a window view of the town and the Lake. Very pretty indeed! I was only there for one night, but it rained heavily all afternoon, so it was great to have a lovely place to sit and chill out. Staff were friendly and helpful. One thing though the dinner was quite pricey for the quantity even though the quality of the food was really really good! Would recommend the Angel Inn for sure.'

'Accomodation was comfortable, clean and well presented. The food was of a high standard. Unfortunately, the service was at best perfunctory, with little or no pro-active contribution from staff. Waiting staff made no effort to enquire if the food was alright, more drinks were required etc. Whilst minimum intrusion during meals is sometimes welcome, it should not be necessary to gesticulate and call to attract staffs attention. On leaving a day early, I explained that my wife was not well, no interest was shown and no enquiry as to her condition or illness was made. There was no offer to assist with the luggage, even though by this point I had mentioned my disappointment with the service. There was also no clear cut management structure in order to voice complaints. If the intention is to run a contemporary hotel, the service needs to be improved significantly. However, as a pub with a few rooms it is probably OK.'

'My wife and I (age 35) and my wife's parents stayed at the Angel Inn in July 2011. Overall I would say it was a very good experience. My wife and I stayed in a back room that was small, as is the case with all rooms in the UK from our experience, but adequate. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Without climate control it was a little difficult to cool the room enough. We ended up sleeping with the window cracked, which worked well. We were glad to have our own bathroom. I will say that the shower was very small. I am 6' 1" and 175 lbs and was able to turn around in the shower and wash myself. But a fat person would have serious problems. One strange feature was that the shower did not have any soap dish on the wall so the soap and shampoo had to sit on the corner of the floor. That meant stooping down periodically, which had to be done carefully. A larger person would not have been able to do it. A small soapdish glued to the wall would go a long way. Aside from that the hot water was good and water pressure reasonable. My in-laws stayed in a front bedroom above the lounge. I had feared that noise might be a problem but they assured me that it was not. Their bed was uncomfortable with a thin mattress over stiff boards - according to them. The did have a nice view out the front that they enjoyed. The location of the Angel Inn was great. It's a 1 minute walk right into town and a 5 min walk to some very nice hiking to the east of town. I highly recommend hiking to the high points and seeing the countryside. The Dale's Way hike was very peaceful and beautiful as well.'

The first night we found the food, although fantastically presented, to be very bland. Ther service was fantastic though. The second occasion we tried some basics (burger and ceaser salad) and enjoyedd them. Again the service was outstanding. It was a Saturday and very busy, but we did wait a while for our food/drinks and bill. This is not a criticism of the staff, who were fantastic yet again. Perhaps the management should look at staffing on the busy nights, would have given the rating 5/5 instead of 4/5. Overall, an enjoyable experience but maybe eat somewhere else.'

As we have visited the Angel Inn on a number of occasions previously for dinner and drinks decided it would be the ideal base. The room was spacious and very modern and all the staff were helpful. The room and whole hotel/bar/restaurant was very clean and we enjoyed the entire time spent here. Great selection of wine and beers and the food is lovely. Make sure you are hungry at breakfast. My only niggle was the shower, which was poor when considering the qaulity of everything else. Will 110% stay here again and would recommend to anyone.'

'really enjoyed our one night stay on 22nd July.We had a delicious evening meal and breakfast was also good. The room a little small but very nicely decorated and more than adequate. The bed was comfy and the sheets were crisp and clean. My only gripe is that the shower head wouldn't stay in place once the shower was switched on, giving my hair a soaking when i was trying to keep it dry. 'Stayed at the Angel Inn from Friday 15th July to Tuesday 19th July. Great location close to town centre. Had room No.5 in the main building. Room and en-suite were fine, although both on the small side. Had to take care in the shower cubicle and the one large suitcase we had wouldn't fit under the bed so it took up valuable floor space. Room had no safe to secure valuable items. The bar rooms and restaurant area were excellent as was the food, particularly the breakfast. Staff very helpful with any enquiries and provided excellent overall customer service. Very pleased with the free Wi-Fi. However, no signal in room 5 so had to use lap top in downstairs rooms. A small inconvenience I was more than willing to put up with as most hotels view internet access as a revenue earner and charge almost the same for 24hrs access as a Service Provider does for 1 month in your home. All in all we enjoyed a satisfactory stay at the Angel Inn.'

'This is the third stay at The Angel Inn which sums it up really. This time we chose to book in for two extra days as we enjoy our stays so much and we had the extra time to make some excursions slightly further away from Bowness but still the farthest one was to North Yorkshire which was only forty five minutes away so great base for a holiday. Lovely family room which is always spotless as is the hotel itself. Friendly staff who always have a smile on their face and great to see the owners chipping in rather than being invisible to clients. Breakfast always perfect and will cook things not on the menu such as boiled eggs if requested (if you can manage anything after the buffet-great choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurts and fruit juices). We ate in The Angel Inn every night, not the cheapest of places but try it and you won't want to eat anywhere else!Particularly recommend the Beer Battered fish and chips with mushy peas and the sugared Winster strawberries, wonderful to see seasonal local produce being used. Quiet, cosy hotel and despite being in the centre of Bowness the only noise we had was from the odd inconsiderate guests who slam doors and insist on talking loudly in corridors late at night. Will definately return and recommend to anyone.'

'First impression on entering the Angel Inn.. Warm friendly atmosphere.This impression persisted throughout our stay. The room was spacious, very clean and furnishings felt new and fresh. As as inn, food and drinks were available on site. A varied menu was provided and the food itself was excellent. It has an outdoors sitting area which affords a view of the town which was just great for afternoon pints. The tables had large parasols wihc meant you could still sit out even with the occasional raindrops! My only negative commentary was that the cleaning personnel came into the room although we'd left the 'do not disturb' sign on the door. Other than that it was faultless stay and would happily go back!'

'This is the third or forth time we've stayed here. The hotel has a very laid back feeling to it and sitting in the beer garden after a day out is fantastic. 'Just got back from a stay at the Angel, and having read several reviews beforehand I can agree with many comments good and bad. The first thing I'd note is that the breakfast was truly excellent - if I had one small gripe it would be the lack of grapefruit juice. Ate a meal in the lounge on our last night in Bowness and the food couldn't be faulted. The room was nicely decorated, small as was the bed, and stiflingly hot. Also rather noisy - I don't particularly want to hear other people on the toilet! Maybe I'm being picky but it would also have been nice to have had the used toiletries replaced. The Angel's in a lovely location, and we'd probably stay again - just not in Room 7!'

'We stayed from 09/05/2011 until 12/05/2011 and we had a truly fantastic time. The room we stayed in was very clean, excellently presented with superb storage and space. Everything you could wish for in a high quality hotel room. The location is brilliant and the breakfast tasted out of this world. The staff were helpful and friendly making us feel welcome. 'I have just enjoyed a long weekend staying at the Angel Inn in Windermere. We had a fantastic time. The hotel is really clean the staff are really friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are great, we had one of our evening meals there and it was lovely. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. We have stayed twice before and we will go again cant wait for our next visit. both my husband and myself had a great time.'

'It was mine and my partners first time staying at the Angel Inn and without hesitatiion i can say we would stay there again the rooms were very clean and the staff were very friendly. The Angel Inn was in a great location to visit the Peter rabbit exibition and to the beautiful lake where you could take various boat rides. We found that whatever we fancied to eat at night wasnt a problem either with lots of restraunttes or bars within two minuites walk from the hotel or if you prefered a relaxing night in the hotel offered a lovely evening time menu. Overall i would describe this hotel as being excellent and will definately be returning in the future.'
