'I usually stay at the Premier in as I leave before breakfast for an early start. My first time at The Thomas Paine was a good one. Met by the host, given a tour, shown my excellent room with a superb en suite. Dinner - Good menu, selected steak with peppercorn sauce. Arrived within 20 minutes even though it was busy and was hot, well cooked and presented and very tasty. Informed the host that I would be leaving around 4 a.m. no problem even offered to prepare a sandwich for the journey. Thomas Paine Hotel excellent, staff superb food even better. Well worth a visit.'

'Two colleagues and I arrived to a warm welcome on the evening of the 22nd November. We were suitably welcomed and given our keys not more than 5mins after arrival. 'My wife and I just returned home from spending two nights in Thetford, where we stayed at the Thomas Paine. We were on the first stop of a two-part pilgrimage to Tom Paine, probably the greatest Englishman to ever draw breath. We timed our stay to coincide with the Burston School Strike Rally, where Robb Johnson was playing (probably the greatest living English singer/songwriter). The hotel has recently been renovated and was a real delight - lovely, friendly staff, a couple of good ales, draft cider, excellent food, superb room... excellent value for money. I was especially pleased to discover that the hotel is not part of some monstrous corporate chain, and is helping to keep alive the name of the greatest ever Englishman. My one and only "could-do-better" remark is that I would like to have seen more effort to market the precious contribution to humanity made by Tom Paine... such as selling his books, his biographies and the wonderful Liberty Tree CDs (partly performed by Robb Johnson), which should be played at least some of the time on the hotel's music system... and what about having some of TP's wonderful quotations adorning the public rooms and bedrooms? This was a truly great man and I think the hotel could make far more out of his name.'
