'These are the things that I care about when I'm staying somewhere: Do you get a warm and friendly welcome? Is the warmth and friendliness carried over throughout your stay? Is the room a pleasant place to be both awake and asleep? Good breakfast where you can eat as much (or as little) as you want? The Tudor Lodge ticks all of those boxes.'

'My single room was quite small but comfortable enough and everything functioned well, especially the shower. I am a big fan of cooked breakfasts and I have only come across continental before at some London B&B's. But it was pleasant enough and there was plenty of it in a very nice dining area. But Tudor Lodge's greatest asset is its friendly hosts, Karl and Anja. Karl has a great and enthusiastic knowledge of the area and his information and suggestions went a long way to enabling me to adapt my plans and ensuring that I made the most of every day.And that meant a lot to me:-I got far more out of my visit than I had planned for. So, for the price, I would definitely stay again which is perhaps the best recommendation.'

'We had a wonderful time visiting Snowdonia while staying in Tudor Lodge. The room is very comfortable with lovely bathroom, the hosts are warm and nice, the breakfast has a wide choice of food, the location is convenient to many attractions, and the price is reasoable, what more could you ask for.... Definitely will stay again if visiting North Wales.'

'A friendly welcome from Anja and Carl. Very comfortable room, looking recently refurbished with an excellent en-suite shower room. Great choice of "continental" style buffet breakfast, which is a good move because few of us are into old fashioned fry-ups these days. I was given useful tips for locating suitable evening meal places in Porthmadog. One of the downsides of Porthmadog: there aren't many decent evening eateries, which is surprising seeing as it is one of the prime tourist spots in the area. However, thanks to the advice I did manage to find a different decent meal spot for each of the three nights I was there. Perhaps a useful future development at Tudor Lodge would be an evening meal option to save lazy types like me needing to tog up and trawl around the town every evening. Would I go to Tudor Lodge again? Certainly, yes.'

'Convenient central location, especially if you are travelling by train. The owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very happy to see the "guest fridge" - I wish all B&Bs / Guest Houses took up this idea. Wish I could have stayed longer.'

'We stayed for five nights and were glad that we had chosen to use here as a centre for our holiday. We received a very warm welcome and were helped with our baggage on both our arrival and departure. We also received a lot of help on where to go for meals, shopping and places to see locally. Our room was very clean and tidy and we had plenty of useful storage space. The owner had clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make sure we were comfortable and all members of staff were very friendly and chatty. We have no hesitation in giving the five stars it deserves and will hope to renew our stay in the near future. Highly recommended.'

'This was our first trip to stay in Porthmadog and what an enjoyable one. We found the Lodge quite easily and parking was not a problem. Booking in with Carl was nice and easy, yes you do have to pay first but this does make leaving easier as you just drop the keys off. We found the room to be very nice, warm (my wife hates being cold !), clean and well maintained. Our parents were also down but staying in Portmeirion and came to have a look and both were impressed. We both had an undisturbed sleep and a very nice continental breakfast, Carl explained where every thing was and we had as much as we wanted, other guests who had stayed there before were pleasent. Both Carl and Anja made this a very pleasent stay. We will be coming again.'

'Short break in North West Wales and it would have been hard to find anywhere much better to stay than the Tudor Lodge. Carl and Anya are very welcoming and particularly helpful with local information. The guest house itself is very comfortable and we liked the attention to detail - there's even a shoe shining machine. Breakfast is continental with a really good choice. Porthmadog is an excellent location for getting around the area and we ate at two local pubs both serving very good food. So we'd totally recommend this guest house and look forward to our next visit.'

'We have just stayed here for a few days, having an autumn break. We found the accommodation was excellent, with a very comfortable room. Ours was one of the larger double rooms and it offered lots of space, very comfortable bed and a sofa. Unlike many hotel rooms, it had very good lighting for reading. The shower in the en suite bathroom was also very good. We enjoyed the continental breakfasts - I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit salad with blackberries, strawberries, grapes etc and supplies of fruit, croissants etc were very efficiently topped up as people used them. We found Carl and Anja, the proprietors, very helpful and friendly and would definitely recommend Tudor Lodge to our friends and stay there again ourselves if we visit Porthmadog again.'

'Having stayed before I knew what to expect and Carl the host was friendly and informative as usual, nothing is too much trouble. The room was spotless and up to the usual high standard. Its location is perfect for access to all amenities within the town and ideal for a base to explore the wider area. I have recommended to friends and will use again as the beds are comfortable and the location is quiet being being just off the main road so a good nights sleep without fail. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.'

'My wife and myself stayed at The Tudor Lodge for the second time at the end of September 2012. We were in Porthmadog to clear a deceased relative's house and especially appreciated the clean, warm and very comfortable rooms at the end of a strenuous day. The en suite shower rooms are extremely welcoming and we we enjoyed the lovely shower. Breakfasts are just right for us - lovely selection of fruit juices, good coffee and a great change to be offered continental buffet meats and cheese instead of the usual poor version of an English (or Welsh!) breakfast that has been congealing under heat lamps for some time. Cannot recommend this place too highly - it is the benchmark we use to judge the other places in which we stay.'

'Welcoming reception, easy parking now the carpark has been extended. Room compact, but very high standard of decor and maintenance. Breakfast...continental buffet is ok for us, but for those out walking all day may not be enough to keep you going. Otherwise fresh fruit, cereal and croissant fine for us. A great quiet location handy for trains and the town centre. Will probably stay again in preference to other hotels in Portmadoc we have stayed in. For the less able person, there are a lot of steps and no lift.'

'My husband and i recently spent 3 nights at Tudor Lodge while holidaying in the area and would certainly recommend it to others. There is plenty of on site parking and the B&B is ideally located within walking distance of the centre of Porthmadog. We had paid extra for a larger room and we appreciated the extra space it gave us. The room and en suite were beautiful and very clean. Breakfast is a continental buffet rather than a cooked breakfast but there is a large selection to choose from and more than set us up for the day. Carl and Anja were very welcoming and friendly with plenty of useful advice about things to do and where to eat. Payment is on arrival which we thought was great as it meant no hanging about on the day you check out waiting until someone is free to sort out your bill. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.'

'Best place we have stayed on our holiday, full marks. Beautifully modernised interior in a pleasing older building. Excellent shower/bathroom, and a marvelously comfortable bed. Breakfast had plenty of choice including a proper continental (croissants, cheese, ham etc) and plenty of fruit & a good yoghurt to go with cereal, plus the usual cooked English. Our host, Carl, was a pleasure to deal with; cheerful, outgoing & informative about local restaurants & sights. Thoughtful extra touches such as a fridge for residents to keep food items in, plus free wi-fi. Handily placed for walking around town/harbour. Very highly recommended!'
