'Rivendell is in a pretty part of Swanage, being opposite a lovely old church. I managed to park on-street, for free, too. I stayed in the little single bedroom, with ensuite shower room. It was a small room, just right for one person on a budget! Breakfast was delicious - the full Dorset sounded a bit much for me, so I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toasted muffins - very good. The fresh fruit salad, soda bread, cakes... someone's a very good cook in this establishment. No wonder it was full when I visited.'

'We had a warm welcome from Lyn when we arrived. She showed us to our room and it was beautifully decorated and spacious. Everything that we could have wanted was provided for and we felt very comfortable. The bed was super and we slept well. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic! Lyn and Kevin saw to it that we had exactly what we wanted, vegetarian too, and it was delivered to us hot, well presented and quickly! Could not fault it! The only point would be the matresses on the bunks, but probably more noticeable because the lads are bigger now. 'An excellent B&B.The room was smartly furnished with plenty of space and a very clean bathroom. The only very minor quibble was a cheesy whiff if one of the cupboards - maybe the previous guests had been out for a long walk and left their walking boots in there! 'We have just had an excellent long weekend at Rivendell. The staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for their guests. Our room (2) was perfect - a very comfortable enormous bed, a very spacious room with lots of storage space and a fab bathroom with a great power shower. The breakfast choice, quality and service was superb! Just one tiny criticism and that was our first impressions were a little disappointing when we saw the stairs carpet to the the first floor, it could do with some attention. That said it is the ONLY criticism and the standard of everything else made up for it! All in all, a fab guest house and worth every penny!'

'My husband and I came accidentally came across Rivendell Guest House several years ago, when our usual guest house was full. Since then, when visiting Swanage we have been lucky enough to stay at Rivendell Guest House. As always the proprietors make us most welcome. Each room we have stayed in over the years has been clean and well appointed, and included apple supplies of tea and coffee and shower gel/shampoo/hand wash and a container with cotton wool/wool buds,shower cap and mini shoe shine for that extra touch. The Full English Breakfasts are brilliant. With so much choice it is difficult to decide what to have to eat and they also make home made fruit salad, museli, pancakes, muffins and jams which are excellent.'
