'After sipping champagne in a sun drenched garden, with recomended home made crackers and dips, (amazing), we took a couple of hours to relax in our beautiful room over looking the river, came down to a lively, welcoming bar on a clearly busy saturday night, everybody is relaxed and informal but doing a realy good job, we had a fabulous dinner in the river view restaurant and topped of by a vist from a local hedgehog outside, we retired to our room and awoke to fresh coffe and bird songs, finished with a breakfast of our choice, what a wounderful escape!!!!!!!'

'This was our first visit to the Cartford Inn and I can safely say it will be the first of many. We arrived in time for a great lunch and a pint before talking a walk along the river. We're glad we built up an appetite for dinner - try the beef and oxtail suet pudding! There are several real ales on handpump - all very well kept. We stayed over and our bedroom (room 5) was great: clean, a very comfortable bed and a lovely view over the river. To top it all, this pub stands head and shoulders over the competition for its customer service. From the moment we arrived to when we left Julie and her team made us feel very welcome. All the staff we met were friendly and polite without being overbearing. All in all, I can't recommend this place highly enough.'

'We arrived after a 3 hour drive to a busy car park and we were rescued by the owner who found us a place to park and helped us carry our bags - the sign of things to come ! Our room was far beyond our expectations, clean, beautiful and the attention to detail simply amazing. From our arrival right through to our departure we were made extremely welcome by the owner and all their staff, who were friendly and helpful and stayed calm even on Saturday evening when the bar and restaurant were crowded. 'As a mother's day treat we went to 'The Cartford Inn' & we cannot praise it enough. On arrival we were greeted by smiles from ALL the staff & everyone was so, so helpful. Our room had a bed in the middle of the room, first reaction was 'how storage' but then we could see the reason why! As we lay on the bed the view through the French window was breathe taking. The whole room & walk in shower was fabulous. The evening meal accompanied with fine wine was EXCELLENT some of the best food we have eaten (& we eat out EVERY Sunday at a wide range of restraunts). We both slept like babies & in the morning once again enjoyed the beautiful view. Smiles greeted us in the morning & a gorgeous breakfast cooked to perfection. 'Arrived after work on a Friday and started to relax immediately, very friendly welcome with a well deserved pint. To be fair I have stayed before, the food is just as good and the atmosphere as I remember it. Staff are attentive, but not overboard and the young student staff should be looked after by the management, they are all a treasure you should strive to keep! Rooms very comfy with a nice deep bath, essential after a good days strenuous walking. Food reasonable and all round good value, well worth venturing away from the beaten track. 'Dear Julie and Patrick and your fantastic staff, Thanks for the wonderful weekend we spent with you in your Penthouse, we realy did not want to leave. Its not everyday you splash out and we were treating ourselves following my wife's recent operation, We couldnt have chosen anywhere better. We were welcomed personally by Julie when we arrived and this set the tone for a wonderful stay. We had seen the pictures of the Penthouse on the web site but they just do not do it justice. We were wowed by the style, glamour but most of all the comfort of the room . You can get style and glamour but its hard to get comfort as well and this was particularly welcome to us. This room was by far the best we have ever stayed in and we are seasoned travellers. We found it hard to leave the room, but when we did the bar and restaurant did not disappoint. We are regular customers of the Cartford pub and restaurant and have often had wonderful meals here but this was a particularly busy Halloween weekend and the atmosphere was wonderful , full of fun, all the staff dressed in Halloween costumes and some were amazing. We particularly liked the werewolf and the pumpkin, We have loved our stay and thank you all for making it such a wonderful time and memory we will be back. P. S. Still building work going on and a slight whiff of paint, however this did not marr our stay...we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we loved our room, the place was busy but maintained a relaxed, casual feel. 'We have enjoyed the food at the Cartford Inn before and noticed that they had rooms. As it was my wife's birthday I decided to surprise her with an overnight stay. Our meal did not disappoint, it was every bit as delicious as before and we enjoyed some beautiful wine and afterwards some live music. Our room was very classically decorated with all the facilities you would expect plus, and this is rare in my experience, a very comfortable, super-kingsize bed. We finished off our visit with a delicious breakfast in the quaint and peaceful setting of the dining area with a promise to ourselves that we will be back next year.'

'My partner and I stayed overnight on the 26 April and were impressed by the room comfort and the standard of dinner. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly throughout the whole process. Just one minor quibble in what was a really lovely stay - there were no glasses in the room for water, which we only noticed as we went back to the room late at night.'
