Alba House takes its name from the Gaelic name for Scotland. Alba House is a beautiful imposing detached Victorian villa, built around 1870. It is situated in Craigmillar park conservation area, 2 km south of city centre. Craigmillar park is situated south of Princes street: in fact it is a continuation of the major route from the historic 'New Town'. Within a few minutes walk in one direction you can find the Inch park, on of Edinburgh's many fine public parks. It was built as a family home but in recent years has been internally modernised to provide eight en-suite bedrooms. Great care has been taken with the renovations so that none of the beautiful original features have been lost. The house boasts ornate plasterwork, high ceilings and spacious rooms associated with a Victorian period house.
