'We booked this hotel to be close to the start of the Great South Run in which we were participating. It was also used by most of the Elite runners too. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were heavily in demand, but remained pleasant friendly and accommodating. It is a beautiful house. Our room was in the new extension and we were very pleased with it. It was very light and airy with nice finishing touches.,The Churchill was just a short stroll away from the centre of York which was perfect for us travelling with our 9 year old son. At night it was very quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable.We were pleased that our sons bed was a proper full sized single bed and not a divan or sofa bed. We found all the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious.
