Alcuin Lodge is a boutique hotel situated just outside the city walls of historic York, in a quiet cul-de-sac. In keeping with the city's diverse architecture, varying from the medieval age right up to the contemporary, the Lodge is a beautifully maintained Edwardian period building, full of original features and charm. Each of the five guest bedrooms – a twin, three doubles and one family bedroom – is comfortably and lovingly furnished by the owners, each with its own en-suite bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. Alcuin Lodge's large dining room overlooks an old fashioned bowling green on the edge of the city, but is still a mere five minute stroll into town through the charming Museum Gardens. Surprisingly compact with numerous incredible historical buildings, from 14th century pubs to medieval churches, York is also a thriving modern city, with fantastic shopping and fashionable bars and restaurants. Known for its history rather than culture, York also boasts numerous art galleries and a thriving music and theatre scene.
