About Denbighshire
|
Traditional Denbighshire is a maritime county, bounded to the north by the Irish Sea, to the east by Flintshire, Cheshire and Shropshire, to the south by the traditional counties of Montgomeryshire and Merionethshire, and to the west by Caernarfonshire. In the south and west of the county the mountains of the Clwydian Range rise from 1000 to 2500ft high. The east of the county is hilly. There is some level ground along the coastal strip. The highest points are Moel Sych and Cader Berwyn at 2,713 feet. Pistyll-y-Rhaeader is a spectacular 240 feet waterfall. The chief rivers are the Clwyd and the Dee. The River Conwy runs north along the western boundary. The modern county of Denbighshire borders Powys ot the south, Flintshire and Wrexham to the east and Gwynedd to the west.

Rhyl Sky Tower |
Situated on Rhyl's promenade this 240 ft observation gyro tower has been in operation since 1993, the observation car rotates as it lifts around a central column and rises to 210 ft, a charge is levied to passengers and the ride lasts for approximately 5 minutes. An important feature attraction that must be preserved and improved. CLL is seeking possible sponsors to assist in improving this attraction. |

Chirk Castle |
Chirk Castle is a magnificent stone 13th century quadrangular fortress and is one of the great Marcher castles. The high curtain wall is flanked by massive half round towers, with drum towers at the corners but sadly there is no trace of the original south side, that side is now a range of Tudor lodgings. Internally only the four storey Adam's Tower is original, the rest of the castle being altered or rebuilt, due to Civil War slighting. 2 miles east is Chirk Motte. Chirk Castle is located west of the town centre, off Castle Road. 10 miles south of Wrexham on the A483-A5. |
