Lovely Welcome 5 years ago
The booking was made quite a long time ahead and it was reassuring to receive an email shortly before we were due to go to Mitchells, to confirm our booking. When we got there, we were welcomed in and after we had been guided to our rooms we were invited to the lounge for a cup of tea. Helen Mitchell then told us about various attractions in Chester, gave us a map and details of discounts at various places to eat and explained clearly how to get to specific attractions that we mentioned and whether we would need to walk or drive to them. The guesthouse is within easy walking distance of Chester and we chose to use our car only in the evenings when parking is easier.
The rooms we had booked were as photographs and had thoughtful touches, kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate, horlicks, a couple of small easy chairs as well as a full range of toiletries, dressing gowns, spare blankets, hot water bottle, beds were comfortable, breakfast was good with choice of cereals, fruit, fruit juice and cooked part to pre-order with toast and marmalade to follow.
The only negative concerns were the stairs to the top room. Although relatively fit I did find it a struggle to do the last couple of steps with my suitcase. Mr Mitchell was there when we arrived and did take one of my fellow guests suitcase and I am sure he would have taken mine if I had found it impossible to do so. However, if you do find climbing stairs difficult you might want to get a room on the first floor rather than the second.
When we left, we were given a small gift and a little teddy bear each. We were very pleased with these.

Thank you for your kind comments. We're sorry that you found the second flight of stairs a little too much for you. We do appreciate that this is the second floor, and we have adjusted our prices to take this into account.
