Lovely stay 3 years ago
Off to a family 50th wedding anniversary close by, We stopped for one night in the very recently refurbished family room/apartment, which is separate to the main dwelling. The rooms, yes there is more than one, were decorated a furnished to an excellent spec, with all the necessary extras that you might need or expect from a good hotel ( hair dryer, TVs, coffee/tea making, iron and ironing board).
The 2 bed settees were very comfortable ( according to our kids) as was the bed in the main bedroom. Breakfast was included, which was a traditional English affair, with lashings of toast and tea, all served in the heart of a very traditional English pub.
The only downside was the lack of curtains or blinds in the room, which have yet to be fixed up; however, this oversight could be forgiven, as it allowed the excellent views across the Durham countryside to be further absorbed.
The staff were very friendly and the Landlady/Manager was tentative and welcoming.
All in all an excellent stay and thoroughly recommended to anyone.........so much so, we might even go back and we only live in Blyth, Northumberland
